TLC did a special on this last year. It was really incredible - I'd venture to guess that at least part of it is on YouTube or something.
Fascinating stuff.

I saw that show on TLC. Sadly, they usually die in their twenties and are prone to brain aneurisms.

What does their intelligence like? Looks like they got tiny brains.

Did you go through all the pics? One of them is definitely not in proportion with a full sized honker.

Primordial dwarves generally aren't totally proportional. They tend to have bigger skulls so their noses are larger, teeth are messed up...they frequently have serious vision and respiratory problems. The TLC special had one woman in like her 30s. Her front teeth were ENORMOUS - like a rabbit's. Their voices are unnaturally high - they sound like little kids, even as adults.
Most primordial dwarfs actually have normal mental capabilities. They can be socially immature sometimes because of their size - in the special, one boy was 18 but hung out with nine-year-olds because guys his age were just too big to really play with.
Truly proportional dwarfs generally are born with pituitary dwarfism - they simply will prematurely quit growing, so their bodies are actually normal-looking...they're just very small for their age.
If you're interested in it, you should really watch a couple eps of Little People, Big World on TLC - I've learned a ton through that show and my own subsequent Internet research.

Relative to the average child, I don't think so.

I see. And where does the term Lindy originate?

"Dwarfism" as most of us think about it is caused by "achondroplasia," an inherited problem with formation of the cartilage at the ends of long bones that causes/allows them to grow. The term "dwarf" is not some sort of medical definition, it's just a description. This "primordial" type is a completely different thing, with no doubt its own sheaf of complications and problems.
