I'm with mainemanx; 1.25GHz 15" G4 with the 5400 RPM hard drive and, because I'm foolish (and Crucial didn't update their page until the day after I ordered), 1GB of RAM. Ordered at 2:52 AM PST, shipping on or before 9/23/03.

Apparently, if you order via phone, the order status does not show up on the website. I ordered a 17" PB yesterday, and they told me it would ship in 1-3 days, and arrive no later than the beginning of next week. So, how many times per day should I call and bug them for the latest news on ship time?

Ordered a stock 15" 1.25 Gig model yesterday at 0923 PST. As of this morning it is open with an estimated ship date of 9/19/03. Kind of wierd as it was slated to ship same business day which should be today. Hoping to see it either Monday or Tuesday since I paid the extra $12 for 2-3 day shipping.

I ordered a stock 1.25 GHz model Tuesday morning about 7:30 Pacific time. Naturally, I spent much of the day obsessively checking and re-checking my order status on the web (*g*) ... the order status remained "open" all day, with an estimated 9/16 ship date. But no ...

When I got up this morning, there was a waiting e-mail from Apple giving me an Airborne tracking number, and stating that the PB shipped on 9/17. (The tracking number hasn't made it into the Airborne system yet, though.) The e-mail was sent just a little after midnight last night.

So I guess I'll have to wait one more day than I had hoped, but that still isn't too bad. Now it's time to start obsessively checking and re-checking Airborne's tracking site ...

We probably need to differentiate between educational, non-educational, and call-in ... and between 4200 and 5400 RPM orders.

Call-in would not accept my request to add personalization to the iPod order.

They cancelled my original order, and I replaced it online ... educational 9:15a EDT ... 5400 15" 1.25 ... "ship on or before 9/23."

I ordered my stock 15" with superdrive yesterday afternoon.
I received an email from Apple saying it would ship on or before 9-19.
My 17" sold on ebay last night so I will be without a computer for longer than I anticipated since the 15" didn't ship when I expected.
Oh well..... at least I chose 2-3 day shipping.

On the phone I was told that the 1gb chip is delaying orders by at least two weeks.

I ordered my 1.25 15" 512mb (1 chip) 80gb 4200 yesterday, and only today my ADC membership was verified and I got the "order being processed" email. My order status is Open. I'm wondering if ADC orders don't have a ship date, though I was told it should ship out mid of next week.

Ordered mine from Apple's HK online store (Sep-17 12:30am); got a confirmation it's gonna ship in 1-2 days' time.

This afternoon (Sep-17 4:00pm) when I check the status again it's already been SHIPPED. So if that's accurate it should be here before the weekend!

Have to say this is the quickest response ever from Apple :-)

I ordered my new 1.25ghz 15" bright and early Tuesday morning (practically as Steve was announcing it in Paris...) and was very excited about the "available today status on the website.

However - Apple called my house to verify that I was shipping it to a different location (my college apartment) than my credit card is billed, but I didnt get that message until late Tuesday afternoon. I called Apple, waited on hold for up to 30 mins at a time to talk to 4 different people, and finally got things straightend out. My order status is still open, but changed to On or before 9/18 (used to be 9/16.) I called this morning and they said its marked for shipment today, but they couldnt tell me whether it was leaving from California or Tawain. Apparently its the origin that determines whether the 2-3 day shipping takes 2 days or 3. Im leaving on a roadtrip on Friday afternoon and that would be a great chance to play with my new Powerbook, but only if it gets here in time!

I specifically decided not to BTO because I wanted it this week, and that cost me a little extra $$ for features I didnt necessarily need.

Anyone who has received shipping conformation: where did yours ship from? Think Ill get it by Friday? Is it normal for the public site to lag behind the information the phone rep gave me about being ready to ship?

BTW its my first mac - a new switcher - and I cant wait!

Congrats on your first Mac! You'll never look back ...

My stock 1.25 MHz 15" PB is shipping from California ... should be here on Friday. ::dances around wildly::

Unfortunately, no one is scheduled to be at home on delivery day ... grrr! I ain't waiting until Monday to get the thing -- looks like someone might need to call in sick on Friday ... *g*

update:

I just got off the phone with Apple and they said it's shipping today, but from overseas. Think there's any chance of seeing it before I leave on Friday? Any idea why they don't offer an overnight option?

Mine's not even built yet.

They're confirming the loan tomorrow. Then it's probably about 10 days build time (the 40GB iPod seemed to delay it the most!) and 3 days shipping.

I ordered a 12" Powerbook with 60GB drive upgrade, superdrive and Airport Extreme.

First Mac I've ever bought myself (as opposed to having someone buy it for me, or let me use it, or whatever.) Feels good.

What the nerd community most often fail to realize is that all features aren't equal. A well implemented and well integrated feature in a convenient interface is worth way more than the same feature implemented crappy, or accessed through a annoying interface.

I got the stock combodrive Al 15" to avoid any sort of delay. Don't really care about the lit keyboard, I type 100wpm and I doubt it'll make any difference.

...shipped. :-)

Crossing my fingers it'll arrive Friday.

1.25 GHz 15" nothing custom, paid extra for express shipping, ordered via Apple Edu store the minute it came back online after the keynote. While order was in 'received' state, est ship date was on or before 9/16. Now that order is in 'open' state, est ship date is on or before 9/19 :-(

Should have hit the campus reseller, they're probably sold out by now.

In Colorado, by the way.

I ordered a stock 1.25GHz 15 inch with 2X256MB RAM and a super drive on the phone with the educational discount about noon on 9/16. The agent said it would ship that same day. I got a receipt from Apple showing "same day shipping". WOW, I thought. How rare for Apple.

Now, 1 day later, I have an email from Apple saying :

"Due to an unexpected supply delay, we are unable to ship the following item(s) by the date that you were originally quoted"

Tha't more like the Apple I try to love. The new shipping date is 9/16. We will see what happens next.

How can the selling side of Apple be so constantly out of touch with the reality of stock and shipping rates????

If I knew that the agent was lying, I would have gone to one of the Chicago stores to pick one up in person.

I'm leaving the country in a week, and I planned to take the new PB with me. Lots of luck to me.

I ordered a 12" with 80gb drive and AE card yesterday morning. Educational order. Status says "Open and will ship on or before 9/25/03".

Although Apple has already dinged my credit card for the entire amount, so that's a bit odd. The transaction hasn't cleared yet, but I know they hit my card because I got a call from my credit card company.

I got the exact same message on an AirPort Extreme card I ordered for my Power Mac last month, and it shipped the next day. I think there are just glitches in the system sometimes.

I ordered mine about the same time as TAZ, same model and it says will shi on or before 9-19-03. I hope that doesn't get pushed back any further. I'm gonna love having my very own powerbook, and all my friends are already jealous. I switched to mac about two years ago, and since then have "converted" my mom, brother, three friends and their parents. Congrats to everyone who bought a new powerbook, I know we'll be happy with our purchases!!!

I just (9/17) ordered a 15-inch SuperDrive model through the edu store. I was going to go pick one up at my local Apple Store this weekend but the iPod rebate was just too good a deal to pass up.

15"/1.25GHZ/512/80/SD/APX/BT-USA On or before 09/19/2003

IPOD 10 GB-USA On or before 09/22/2003

I considered doing a CTO and bumping the two 256MB sticks to a single 512, but I can buy 512 for what Apple is charging. I wasn't going to pad their profit by buying what they should ship as standard.

Ugh. Perfection's glancing blow. Sorry about the latch. You going to take it back to them for an exchange? Hope you are able to cancel the on-line order alright.

BTW, I hate you. Mine isn't due 'til next week.

It seems like they should have stacks of these ipods ready to go out the door. I know they got me my applecare box in a big hurry. Why? Heck if I know.

<refreshes his order status once again before bed>

Seems to have shipped in Australia.

I made an order for the 15" Aluminium with SuperDrive. Stock configuration, on 16/9/2003 0714H (Australian Sydney time)

Shipped on 18/9/2003. Apparently takes 4 days to ship. I don't know whether this is from Apple Australia, or factory in Taiwan.

My PB 17" is still on track to ship on or before the 19th (tomorrow). The backpack I ordered with it shipped yesterday, so when I get it, I will probably stare at it and imagine my new PB inside.

[edit]Yes, I am addicted to the order status page. [/edit]

WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Order shipped sometime last night or early this morning. It still showed open when I went to bed last night. Apple Care is coming UPS and scheduled to be here tomorrow. Computer is coming Airborne. Tracking number not available in the system yet so cant tell when it is to be delivered. Looks like they are coming from different locations. Wonder if the computer is coming straight from Taiwan???
