Too bad it doesn't exist. At least for purchase. Maybe someday, maybe someday...

Looks great, but it's kind of useless for touch typists... I mean, when you're getting used to a new program (like, when learning Final Cut Pro or something) it'd be great, but once you're good at it, you don't need to look at the keys anymore. I'd definitely go for a cheaper keyboard that's got just the screen cluster on the left for switching between open programs, though.

But picture an iTunes visualizer running on the keyboard. Or watching a QuickTime movie on it maybe. A plasma fire effect, old-school demo style, always going on the keyboard. I would probably pay $1000 for that thing if it were to come to market and had that kind of capability.

You'd pay a thousand bucks to stare at a chopped up quicktime movie on your keyboard?

It's a nifty idea, but if you really need to look at key labels to navigate your FPS game, you're not going to last long. Good for the learning curve, but not needed long term.

Pretty cool, and great for typing at night.
I just hope there's a power button option
(or at the very least a CG render of one)

& it would be a trip if iTunes & the keyboard were able to play 'keysavers'!

That would kick total ass for something like Logic, and for users who switch between key layouts (such as Japanese/English or so).

I'm also just a casual gamer, so I'd really appreciate the commands showing up on the keys...

Just wow.

I want one.

Standard with every machine.

They've added a FAQ!!! Check the link in the previous post.

Frequently Answered Answers about the Optimus keyboard
It's in initial stage of production
We hope it will be released in 2006
It will cost less than a good mobile phone
It will be real
It will be OS-independent (at least it can work in some default state with any OS)
It will support any language or layout
Moscow is the capital of Russia
Each key could be programmed to produce any sequence
It will be an open-source keyboard, SDK will be available
Some day it will be split ('ergonomic')
It will most likely use OLED technology (e-paper is sooo slow)
Our studio is located two blocks from the Kremlin
It will feature a key-saver
Keys will use animation when needed
It has numeric keypad because we love it
There's no snow in Moscow during Summer
It will be available worldwide (why not?)
OEM will be possible (why not?)
Contact us for hi-res images, or interview inquires
I will own this.
