I can appreciate a mid-word capitalization as much as the next person, but when I saw the QuickTime 6.5.3 Reinstaller was actually a "ReInstaller" I just had to...

I don't like capital letters at all. Period. Well, unless they're in the beginning of sentences or in the beginning of names. I'm cool with the "I" as in "why do I have to put up with this," as well. If any of those aren't capital letters, I get annoyed.

There. Now that I've posted my opinion in this here internet forum, I expect people will start conforming to my wishes.

Did Apple start the intercapping trend, or was there something before iMac? Certainly the inability to have spaces in URLs has encouraged intercapping as well.

Despite starting this thread, It usually doesn't bother me. e.e. cummings always pissed me off (especially at the beginning of a sentence), so I consider it payback.

Whoever came up with "ReInstaller" however, is an idiot...

Or a subtle comic genius. It's hard to tell.

Proper capitalization is like the difference between "I helped my uncle Jack off his horse" and "I helped my uncle jack off his horse".

for correctness, wouldn't it have to be

"I helped my Uncle Jack off his horse"
or
"I helped my uncle, Jack, off his horse"

I have ranted about this more than once. It seems to show how small some marketers' minds really are. They can't figure out a decent name for their product, so they make it "quirky." Bull. It DOES stick in my mind when I see such names, but I get the urge to file those names in the "never, EVER buy this" list. Of course there are some notable exceptions, such as AirPort...but it still bugs me.

The Uncle need not be capitalized unless you are using the whole phrase 'Uncle Jack' as a name, for example 'I helped Uncle Jack off his horse'. It would also be necessary if you were directly addressing him (in which case you would in fact be calling him 'Uncle Jack' as a name), but this example doesn't do that.

The commas you bring up in the second example aren't actually necessary. They can be used, and you've placed them properly for that purpose,

As for midcapping proper names, I've only ever seen this done in two cases: Mc____ names such McDonald and O'_____ names such as O'Leary. Note that Mac___ names, such as Macleod, don't get the midcap.
