Unreal is great but here's a vote for World Of Warcraft.

Myth II.
Many sources available to get the game itself and Project Magma :: Home and The Tain: File archive for the Myth Series to get OS X updates and tons of maps, scenarios and conversions.
Better than NWN because you're not limited to playing Mac users during online play.

If you have an Intel Mac, you can play Half-Life2 if you intall a XP partition on your Mac. Just finished the game! Amazing! The 3D engine of this game is impressive and well showcased with the game's "Gravity Gun", the attention to details in the Half-life wold environement is stunning (just the water in The Canal level!!!). The storyline is a bit linear but very, very cool. The Lost Coast level is a must see. Before getting my new MacBook Pro I nerver had Windows in my life, I intalled it just to check out HL2. WOW! IMHO Best FPS I've seen so far.

When playing NWN, you're not limited to only playing with other Mac users.

Sounds like you have a MacPro. If that is the case, install a XP partition and play NWN2, Half-Life 2 or Doom 3.

This is probly for another forum but strike while the iron's hot.....

I'm getting a 2.66 Tower today, and will do a clean install regardless. I won 't get Windows yet, but how can I set aside that partition for XP or Vista now for later on?

There should be no need, but if it will help you sleep at night, download and install Apple's Boot Camp and use it to partition your disk. You can even burn your drivers CD now if you'd like, or wait until you get your copy of Windows.

If you want, you can also wait until you're ready to install Windows, at which point Boot Camp will gladly non-destructively partition your disk.

Geez,these questions irritate me.
"What's the best game?" "What's the best car?" "Which forum member has the best ass?"
There's a reason why so many developers let you download a demo, or auto dealers have test drives and 'buyers remorse' clauses.
Everybody's opinion is different.

What do YOU like in a game? Check Inside Mac Games or MacGamer - Get In The Game download something that interests you, play it...then YOU decide what is the best game on Mac for you.

I like Myth II - network play, PC & Mac can play against each other. The Movies - cuz it's fun to make 1920s pr0n.

I'm still a fan of Warcraft 3 Dota, Hero Wars, etc. But that's about it for games on me Mac.

It's all about Multiplayer consoles and casual gaming for me now?!?

If someone were to pick a random person from the Mac-using population, sit him/her down, and say "play this game", the game most likely to give that person the most enjoyment long-term would have to be World of Warcraft.

However, only you can decide "what's the best game for the Mac." Since you're getting an Intel Mac you can install Windows and then your options will be pretty much endless.

Only if you're a dork, or someone with way too much freetime, or someone who enjoys pretending to be an Elvin Paladin with +17 endurance and +282 staying a virgin the rest of your life. The only people I know who play that game are... pretty sad.

The best game in my opinion is the future release of Unreal Tornament 2007. I know it hasnt been released yet but it will be soon and i couldnt resist making some noise about it here. Given that it is a significant improvement to ut2k4 and the graphics are outstanding it wil knock your socks off make no mistake about it.

(via boot camp initially. lets hope a mac release wont lag too far behind)

For chess ppl look for 'Shredder' chess. won the pc chess world championships many times.

He just likes to pretend people care about what he thinks, and that his opinions truly matter—instead of just being opinions. Straying from that or having an opinion of your own ... well, you're just stupid! Classic first grade.

Oh yeah—World of Warcraft FTW.
