Hi all,
I'm a member of a small engine technical forum and several people have asked me to send them service manuals that I have on file as PDF's. I have already sent several of them out one at a time, but the PDF's that are larger than 11MB don't make it through; instead, I get this error message shown in the screen shot here:

Question: Is it my outgoing mail server that's limited in capacity, or is it the other person's mailbox?

That's something with your server. If it were the other mailbox, your message would appear to go through, but later you'd get a bounceback e-mail from the other server.
You could try setting up a Gmail account for this — Gmail allows attachments up to 25 MiB, I believe. If you fiddle with the settings a bit, you can get Gmail to send e-mails with your regular address in the From: field.

AT&T tells users (in the fine print) that they limit attachment size, though I can't remember if it's 10MB or something a little smaller. Google is free, offers both POP and IMAP, and supports much larger attachments.
The workaround for using AT&T's servers is to break up the PDFs into smaller chunks-which may or may not be optimal for the documents you want to send. I'd just go with Google.

Or you could zip the files.
Right-click the pdf and select Compress.

Which probably won't help much with PDF files, since they often contain already-compressed image data.

Maybe just get Dropbox, host the files, and e-mail them the link.

Dropbox is probably the best suggestion, because you won't have to keep sending large files if you get new requests -- just send the links again.

If you are creating the pdf files and if you have Adobe 9.0 Pro you can reduce the file size - go to documents - reduce file size and it will take a 10 mg file to 2 or less. Sometimes you can do this multiple times and reduce the file size even further.
