PowerBook G4 800 MHz circa 2003
OS 10.3.9
Safari 1.3.2
Here I'm opening AirPort and selecting Open Internet Connect:
Here it's wanting me to select a network:
Here I've selected Network ATT511 which is my new U-verse service.
Here it's asking me to enter my U-verse Key Number which is 7837432115:
Here is after I've entered in the key number and this is the Error Message I get:
It seems as though the PowerBook sees the WiFi signal, but it's not letting me join the network. However, my slightly newer MacBook Pro, circa 2007, has no trouble connecting to WiFi. I'm having to use this PowerBook because the MBP is in desperate need of a new GPU.

Hi Thorzdad,
Right now everything is set to the default settings.
These are the options I have:
WEP - Open
WEP - Shared
WPA - PSK (TKIP) / WPA2 - PSK (AES) default setting
WPA2 - PSK (AES)

What wifi standard is the router set to? If it's 802.11n only, the old machine won't see it. It has to be 802.11b.

Hi ibook_steve,
These are the choices I have:
802.11n/b/g 2.4 GHz default setting
802.11b/g
802.11b
802.11g
802.11n 2.4 GHz
I switched the router over to WEB Shared and 802.11b. Now I'm up and running.

802.11 b should work with the PB, but I'm not sure WPA-PSK will. Try changing to WEP and see if the PowerBook can join the network. If it does, tthe problem may just be that the PB's OS and/or wireless system currently can't handle a more modern security system.
