You can just run it from terminal (Although I haven't tried it, but I've heard)

/Applications/Konfabulator.app/Contents/MacOS/Konfabulator /Your/Widget/Location.widget --child

Is there a way to hide widgets when I'm in other programs or maybe the question is can I hide the desktop?

I've been debating whether or not this thing is worth $25. When I first played with it, I thought it was the Mac version of DesktopX for the PC. However, since I actually own DesktopX and use it, and I've played more with Konfabulator, I can say that Konfabulator isn't DesktopX. It COULD be, but in its current state, it sure isn't. So, with that said, I'll have to say that I don't feel it's worth $25. $15 max, but $25 is what you'd pay for a used console game, and a LOT more work went into that.

You know maybe if it had superb widgets to offer us (which it should - while the end user was waiting for it people that are coding widgets now should've been coding them and testing them out) when it was released it would be worth $25. I'll never pay $25 to have access to 30 different clocks and news headline grabbers.

If it isn't worth $25 to you now, maybe it will be later? There are some great widgets to come. The Proteus one that is coming looks nice

What does it do? The dock has that message collection thing already.

I think the fundamental problem with Kon for me, is that it is an app focused on the desktop. I have too many windows open to want to minimize them in order to do / check something with a widget, especially since most of the widgets can be accomplished with other programs. Hopefully the quality of widgets pic up a bit, and some usefull widgets popup.

I recently wrote up a little review of Konfabulator, the new widget-based interface application from the creators of Kaleidoscope. I hope you find it interesting:
