Forgive me Father for I have sinned.

I haven't watched the new Doctor Who.
The most recent Marvel movie I've seen was the first Iron Man.
I think Lord of the Rings is dull.

Voyage Home. Brother in law is/used to be a huge Trekkie, and it was on TV when we got back from the beach. Needed to stay in out of the sun for a while anyway, and it's not like there was any alternatives (on vacation, and no cable here).
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

This was supposedly the case with my ex. I realized something was amiss when she said "the tiny bears were stupid".

When I was a kid I used to run around in my Superman cape and pretend I was Optimus Prime transforming into a truck. I would make the sound effects too.

I guess I need to throw down with the biggie.

I don't really like comic books.

It's not snobbery, or being judgmental. I'm just not a huge fan of the medium, even though I'd like to be.

V was Japan only, it seems. VII is the first 3D and the one most people like. VI is the last Super Nintendo FF.

Final Fantasy is the sort of thing I think I might enjoy if I had lots of free time to play my way through them, but I never did. Same with comics, sort of - I have limited free time, books to read, TV series and movies to watch, modern games to play, and I just can't be bothered to set up an emulator for a 20 year old game that I never played back then. Relive memories, yes, but games that I never played back then? No. And the new ones mostly suck, it seems.

Oh, and one more confession: Harry Potter. I don't get it. Read the first one and will never read another.

I'm thinking IV then.

But V was ultimately released in America.

I think I never finished the first Dune book and never wanted to read another. Maybe I finished it, but I remember looking at the stack of sequels and backing away. Just dry, dry stuff.

I would like comics much better if the "collecting" thing wasn't part of them. Love the art, but I hated buying one, then never being able to find the next issue that continued the story. Therefore, I like the omnibus editions.

I'd say it's even duller than Lord of the Rings. I couldn't finish it either.

OTOH, The Dune Encyclopedia was my early introduction to some hefty meta concepts. The encyclopedia exists in-universe, and is just as much a piece of fiction as it is a reference. A far better piece of fiction IMO, because it eliminates all of Herbert's expository cruft.

Since it's in encyclopedia format, it's also non-linear fiction, which was a heady concept for me.

Pretty sure it's out of print, which really blows.

Loved the Dune series. The whole thing.

Tried TLotR/The Hobbit - couldn't get into it. Never did. Enjoyed the movies, but never bothered with the third part of the Hobbit.

Saw the first Harry Potter movie. Never cared enough to watch another or read any of the books.

I had a friend at school who spent every penny he had on Marvel comics. At the time I probably still bought 2000AD weekly and the monthly Judge Dredd Megazine but that was about it. My friend would start half a dozen new lines in a given month.

I always thought this kind of output was almost irresponsible on the part of a publisher, especially when so many are set in the same universes. You had to be an affluent adult to stand a chance of keeping up with all of it.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

I've watched very little Futurama, and no BBT.

I'm trying to think what other shows have good science jokes. I'm not counting Beakman.

Maybe in the first season. Then they moved to jokes that dumb people think were clever science/nerdy jokes. The type of stuff that would appeal to people that follow the "I ****ing love science" facebook group.

Still one of my favorite science "jokes" is from The Right Stuff. When Yeager breaks the sound barrier, everyone on the ground hears the sonic boom, and figures he's just blown up.

It gets extra credit for not explaining it.

I haven't watched Dr Who since Rose. Some companions make the show other's break it.
I only owned an XBox long enough to return it so I've only played the first Halo.

Watch more. Catherine Tate was an excellent companion. Fantastic to see a proper non bimbo in the role. And some of the better stories to share as well.

Donna Noble was very good, and a nice change from swooniness. "I'm not your mate, mate!"

I wish I'd gotten to see Ace, but alas the PBS station we had stopped near the end of 6.

I liked Ace a lot, but they set up a different character to be the companion, which didn't turn out because Mel (ugh) stayed on another episode.

She was an earthling biker chick from the 50's. That would have made for an awesome companion.

Edit: assuming JNT's pretty severe misogyny wouldn't have wrecked it.

Yeah, there were some great stories, tied up in quarry-itis.

My first companions were Sarah and short-lived Harry, well after original airing.

I think the biggest limitation they had to deal with were the serialized episodes.

Most fiction is three acts. Most (later) episodes were four. The bolt never threads properly into the nut.
