Just a small Konfabulator widget in the style of longhorns glass. Why I did it? Cause I wanted to see something glass in action on my mac.

Is that really based on what Longhorn will look like? I'm actually impressed!

Very Beautiful,
It's really too bad that one cant make the surface of the note clear as well. I guess this is something that Tiger might adress, But the clear stuff is super nice, Thanks

How about setting it as clear when the mouse isnt over it, and when mouseover bring in the darker surface. So instead of having just the notepad.png. I am guessing you would need 3 diffrent layers for it.

I will have a play around with it and see if I can implement this. (will do tomorrow) if you dont mind that is.

Hello Mac15.

I have had a little play and come up with the following:-

I made 2 png files for it.
The 1st one showed the entire thing as a clear window with slight bevel to distinguish where you type.
The 2nd was just the black window set to an opacity of zero.

I then just used the OnLoseFocus and OnGainFocus to alter the opacity of the black window for when you are using it and leaving it in the background.

Doing this seems to eliminate the ghost effect you get when you scrolled the text when you were using the clear window.

Bentoon, If you would like a copy of this just send me an email, or anyone else for that matter (with your permission Mac15).

And that is the extent of my skills. Lol
Only being a noob I dont have anywhere to host it and anyway, its only a simple solution for ya.

It would be nice if the text area was wider. There is quite a larger margin on the right-hand side.

Hello again guys.

I have changed it a bit and just made them alternate using "OnMouseEnter and "OnMouseExit".

Gonna have another play around as this little widget is my first adventure into JS or XML and I am just learning what to do.

Will fire it off to fluid and bentoon in a minute.

Update:

I have sent it to the newshit address for ya Bentoon.

Fluid, How do I send it to you as I cant seem to attach anything to an internal email in MacNN.?

Yeh, I noticed that too.

I cant seem to get my head around it though. The scrollbar has no details in the .kon file of how it is positioned or of its size (not that I can work out anyway) as it seems to be not a part of any .png files but actually from your computers main system rsrcs.

Anyone know how to alter the position/size of elements that seem to be brought in via the systems resources.?

You need to change the width in the text area, I changed mine to 210. The only thing is that the scroll bar runs of the graphic if its too wide. I don't use the scroll so it makes no diff to me.

<textarea>
<name>notes</name>
<data>"To Do List"</data>
<alignment>left</alignment>
<size>14</size>
<color>#FFFFFF</color>
<hOffset>15</hOffset>
<vOffset>15</vOffset>
<width>210</width>
<scrollbar>true</scrollbar>
<lines>9</lines>
</textarea>

Solsonic, My idea was that seeing as how some people may use the scrollbar why not have it positioned to the far right of the window. I can't fathom out how to move the bugger.

Have you tried

notes.scrollbar.x=*
notes.scrollbar.y=*

I don't know if that'll work becuase position of the scrollbar may not be written into konfab, if that makes sense.

What a dick.!

The solution was so easy I dunno how I managed to bollock it up.

It was a simple case of editing the <textarea>.

<width>180</width>
<height>160</height>

problem solved.

Solsonic, you were right, I just zoomed straight past the <textarea> section without even looking at it.

Once again I say it. What a dick I am.

I continue to play with this (simple things please simple minds and all that ) and have added different coloured text areas. which you can change via the prefs.

I have added, red,blue,purple,green.

I aint the handiest photoshopper so these look OK but not stellar.
