In what's becoming a yearly tradition here in the Power Mac & Mac Pro forum, here is the 2007 Edition of the ownership survey.

The rules are pretty simple; Vote for whichever model you currently own. In the case of owning multiple machines, vote for the machine you use the most or whichever one is the most powerful. Basically whichever machine you consider 'my machine'.

This is the first year for the new Intel models. And being how they've been on the market now for several months, the initial votes should prove pretty interesting.

As before, I've left a "Single or Dual?" option next to machines that shipped in single and dual processor configurations. Feel free to post with information on which model you have, and what you do with your computer.

For those of you with an interest in looking back on the 2006 Edition of the survey, it can be found here.

With 340 votes, the condensed rundown of the voting looks like this;

G5 based = 54.41%
G4 based = 35.30%
G3 based = 7.940%
Pre-G3 = 2.35%

Being how a number of the poll options barely received enough votes to make a dent in the total even collectively, I've opted to remove them from this year's edition of the survey. The entry level machine will now be the Beige G3.

And with that, vote on...

This should be multiple choice for those of us with more than one. (I have 2 "main" machines -- work & home)

Mac Pro 2.66, 3 GB Ram, Geforce 7300GT, 250 GB HD and 320 GB FW800 external HD. I would have liked to have gotten a nice new wide screen monitor but just had enough cash for the Mac, so my two 19" Acer LCD's will have to suffice.

I'm still using my trusty and long in the tooth Quicksilver Dual800. I have hopefully convinced my dear wife to upgrade to a new computer for my birthday gift in March.
By March we should of seen some kind of upgraded Mac Pro.

Bye, bye reliable (apart from the time you went BANG!) dependable G5 2.0 GHz Dual Core G5, hello Mac Pro 2.66 on a higher edu discount programme . . .

This message is a little premature - I just got my email from Apple saying the Mac Pro has left Ireland and will be with me Friday or (teasingly) 'maybe sooner . . . '

I sold everything! My unfinished PC Media Centre project, the MacBook I thought was fabulous but never used, the PC I'd built to run a few audio and video app's not available on the Mac . . . and I still couldn't afford to increase the RAM!

Imagine - I can put all my currently external drives inside the new machine! Luxury!

Anyway, I'm really excited - this is the first time for a long time that I haven't bought an entry-level Mac (Centris 610, 660av, PowerMac 6100, 7600, 8600, G3/233, G3/333, G4/400, G4/533 DP, G4 QS/1GHz DP, G5 2.0GHz DC)

Amazingly, the MacBook 1.83 I just sold seemed more responsive than the G5 and just about as fast, so I think this Mac Pro 2.66 is going to be a killer machine.

Now what can I sell to finance for RAM?

I still have the MDD in my sig as my main machine. I have finally used every pci slot, both optical bays, and every HD slot. Upgrading the CPUs is pricey and HDs have gotten huge so I think my next machine my be an iMac.
AT&T iPhone 5S and 6; 13" MBP; MDD G4.

I'm still running my G4 Sawtooth. It runs like a dream, stats in my sig.

I do want to replace it with a Mac Pro, but it'll be a while before that happens. I'm getting married, and I've got many other things to worry about before an upgrade happens.

powermac G4 MDD
dual 1.25
FW 800
1 gig RAM

I got it used last year (i dont have a lot of money) after selling my ibook g4 1.2. It has all the processing power that I need even though its about 4 years old. People keep telling me to get rid of the old G4 and to get an intel, but i dont see the need when this does what I need and more. Hoping to keep it for years to come.

Agreed Big Mac -
G5 DP 2.0 revA/1.5GB/Radeon X800XT/10.4.8/2x 160GB SATA/15"ASD&23"ACD

It's almost as fast as the 2GHz MBP I just sold, but 2+ years older

Unless posting it would create security problems, you've just got to post a photo of that in the official Mac Pro/PowerMac picture thread.

And if that's your home system, you either do some very serious AV editing at home or you wear money hats to work.

I just bought the following from the Apple Store

2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon
4GB 667 DDR2 FB DIMM ECC-4x1GB
ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB
750GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s drive

Ok , I could wait for a revision , but I think this will see me right for the next few years at least.

I have a Sawtooth right now.
350MHz PowerPC G4
448MB PC100 DIMM
16MB ATI Rage 128 Pro AGP
40GB ATA Drive
15GB ATA Drive
Pioneer DVD-RW Drive
Rewired PC power supply

Soon I'm getting a 400MHz Single Gigabit Ethernet G4 with no drives and 256MB of RAM. The 40GB HD from my Sawtooth is going into it, along with the DVD-RW drive and some of the RAM. I'll be putting a DVD-ROM drive into the Sawtooth.

Yes, it is my home system and I do 3D stills and some animation for advertising. I haven't had a chance to take a photo of my setup (not really a high priority at the moment). If I get a chance I will post one. I have a dual quad Boxx Systems PC at the studio where I work and I like the Mac Pro better (plus it cost less )
