Why do I keep getting a message that says "This Mac can't connect to iCloud because of a problem with [my email]

Open iCloud preferences to fix this problem"?

And then, why, when I open iCloud preferences, does nothing happen? I mean, it's like a random message telling me to open a window on my machine just so it can go away for no reason. Why does it do that like every day? This has been going on since upgrading to 10.10 and I'm on 10.10.2.

And by the way I don't use Mail.

Here's yet another weird Safari Yosemite issue:

1. Go to Physics | Define Physics at Dictionary.com

2. Then type Command-F.

3. Try to find anything.

Safari seems to go into an infinite loop
This never happened with 10.9 on that website.

(Edit: Whatever it seems to be working fine, may have been a mis-implemented script.)

I just did exactly that, typed Cmd-F and searched for "Random", "Unab", and "English". All of those worked flawlessly, showing 2, 2, and 4 instances, respectively, with me being able to jump through them using Cmd-G.

Regarding the long shut-down delay... I still see it occasionally. I may have to post a "normal shutdown" log and a "long shutdown" log from the Console to compare.
As promised. An example of a normal shutdown log:

Code:
1/31/15 8:44:03.406 AM sharingd[200]: 08:44:03.405 : SIGTERM received, shutting down. 1/31/15 8:44:03.395 AM com.apple.xpc.launchd[1]: (com.apple.xpc.launchd.oneshot.0x10000002.Preview[369]) Service exited due to signal: Killed: 9 1/31/15 8:44:03.410 AM lsuseractivityd[206]: [SFActivityAdvertiser] ERROR: lost XPC connection 1/31/15 8:44:03.411 AM lsuseractivityd[206]: [SFContinuityScanManager] ERROR: lost XPC connection 1/31/15 8:44:03.398 AM com.apple.xpc.launchd[1]: (com.apple.EscrowSecurityAlert[409]) Service exited due to signal: Killed: 9 1/31/15 8:44:03.400 AM com.apple.xpc.launchd[1]: (com.apple.iTunesHelper.20480[253]) Service exited with abnormal code: 1 1/31/15 8:44:03.465 AM sharingd[453]: 08:44:03.462 : Starting Up... 1/31/15 8:44:03.465 AM sessionlogoutd[454]: sessionlogoutd Launched 1/31/15 8:44:03.477 AM sharingd[453]: 08:44:03.477 : Device Capabilities (Handoff:YES, Instant Hotspot:YES, AirDrop:YES, Legacy AirDrop:YES, Remote Disc:YES) 1/31/15 8:44:03.482 AM sessionlogoutd[454]: DEAD_PROCESS: 67 console 1/31/15 8:44:03.529 AM shutdown[456]: reboot by [And.reg]: 1/31/15 8:44:03.000 AM kernel[0]: Kext loading now disabled. 1/31/15 8:44:03.000 AM kernel[0]: Kext unloading now disabled. 1/31/15 8:44:03.000 AM kernel[0]: Kext autounloading now disabled. 1/31/15 8:44:03.000 AM kernel[0]: Kernel requests now disabled. 1/31/15 8:44:03.529 AM shutdown[456]: SHUTDOWN_TIME: 1422711843 528691

The long shutdown delay appears to be an issue with the process "sharingd." The delayed shutdown log has extra lines such as:

"Lost connection to sharingd"
"BTLE scanning started"
"Scanning mode Contacts Only"
"BTLE scanner Powered On"
"loginwindow[67]: ERROR | -[SessionLogoutManager quitAllPrivateProcesses] | Private Process failed to quit: sharingd"

The normal shutdown log does not have these. I don't understand why OS X sometimes doesn't kill the remaining background services on shut down.

That looks like a delay induced by Handoff between your Mac and an iPhone/iPad.

That would coincide with when I upgraded to 10.8.2 (September 2012, when, for the very first time, these problems started happening), and when I upgraded to iOS 6, that same month.

From those logs, it seems likely that whatever used to cause it is no longer the cause.

Why do I keep getting this error message almost every day "This Mac can't connect to iCloud because of a problem with <my email address>
Open iCloud preferences to fix this problem"

It's the same issue that's reported here:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6640177

Alright, I keep opening iCloud preferences every time that I get this error message... yeah... I see my user icon and my preferences, with all the checkboxes... alright... I don't see what the problem is... or what I'm supposed to do to make it work... did it just start working all by itself again...?

This has been going on since like the end of 2014. What's going on?

Oh and the serial number shows up fine, it's not "UNKNOWN"

My guess is that I am experiencing wireless connectivity issues.

Just started happening today... when I go to play a YouTube video on full screen, it won't expand all the way to full screen anymore. The video flashes once, then returns back to its original size, the control bar for the video vanishes, and I can't scroll on the page anymore. Reloading/Restarting doesn't remedy the issue of not being able to go to full screen. But YouTube was working fine last night.

Edit: YouTube works normally one day later, so I'm guessing that YouTube developers went to update the code for their videos and made a mistake.
