Comic-Con was used to unveil the first Wonder Woman trailer. I like what I see here. Release is June 2, 2017 - almost a year away.

Looks better than the Justice League trailer, that's for sure.

Cautiously optimistic, because it's DC and still may suck.

I'm a sucker for period pieces and that's why I'm more optimistic for WW than I would normally be for a DC film.

It's DC. It's going to suck. The trailer looks great, but...again...DC.

I still wish Gal was a physically larger woman, to better fit the amazon image, but that's being nit picky.

It would have caused production problems, since a majority of the Amazons would have to be cast extra-tall to match. Presumably a 100+, counting extras. Also, I'm OK with them keeping both knockers. Complete mythological accuracy is not required in my opinion.

LOTR cast about as many short people for the hobbits. The Expanse has a lot of skinny tall people as extras on a much smaller budget. Can be done. I just think Zack Snyder picked someone whose face looks like his view of WW (compare Watchmen).

You keep your criticisms of Gal Gadot to yourself, thankyouverymuchplease.

Note for future reference: anything spoken in non-glowing terms towards Gal will be met with swift Jawbone justice.

While she could be sturdier, it makes it all the more remarkable that she is strong. Finding a good actress is more important than another body builder whose only range is scowling.

Don't get me wrong, she's one of my favorites out of the new crop of action heroines, I very much enjoy watching her (and her voice makes me snug in the briefs), I just wish she had a little more mass while playing WW, that's all.

Wonder Woman has been rated PG-13 by the MPAA.

I guess I'm OK with this - WW isn't about the red stuff going everywhere. Even though it takes place during trench warfare. And we'll have American Gods for that stuff.

I am in favor of more R-rated action movies though. Fury Road / Deadpool / Logan are good examples of what an R can do for a movie.

The kids need something too, especially young girls waiting for a character like her to be prominently featured.

There should certainly be PG-13 action movies, but the situation of the last decade or so when ALL action movies are PG-13 is untenable.

(As a non-American, I also think that you put far too much importance on the number of F-bombs that the characters drop in a PG-13. Rate them based on violence and nudity, but language?)

I know it's mostly been for financial reasons, but that seems to be shifting as of late. I think Deadpool might have been the catalyst unless I'm forgetting another superhero title. It's almost as if Marvel used his position as a peripheral character to test the mature waters, although their comics are often pretty tame.

(As a non-American, I also think that you put far too much importance on the number of F-bombs that the characters drop in a PG-13. Rate them based on violence and nudity, but language?)
Cultural difference, which seems to be shifting as well.

I've read several books on the origins and impact of swearing (Holy Sh*t and Cuss Control — both secular books, the former being a decent read), and as best as I can tell, swearing is undergoing a transformation in North America. People are generally far less offended by the F-word as they are by the N-word.

If someone drops an F-bomb in public in front of my 5-year-old, I'm likely to stop and say, "Dude...you think you could scale it back around my kid?" However, if someone drops the N-word, everyone is likely to stop what they're doing in complete shock.

Other examples: c**t, fa**ot, ch*nk...

I've gone off the rails though. This is a conversation that could probably take place in a different thread. I'm super fascinated by the history and the future of swearing.

Deadpool was an important test, and it showed that the idea had legs. It is pretty clear that people had been chafing under the PG13 requirement for a while though. My favorite example is in X-Men: First Class, where they burn the single F-bomb on Hugh Jackman's cameo.

I think the difference to the N-word is that it is about a specific person, while the F-bomb is just an exclamation.

*Cough!* Dredd. *Cough!*

Americans and swearing is weird. in 24 you can show bullets flying, fistfights, bones breaking, throats cut, bombs going off, murder, death, torture, kidnapping, probably rape or at least the threat of it but say anything naughtier than "Damn" and thats where you cross the line. No doubt a lady nipple would cause the end of the world.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

and now they're upset that Wonder Woman is "fat-shaming" people.

Honestly, why should anyone ever try to show empowered women? These loons will find something wrong with it. I'm personally looking forward to seeing this, despite the uproar over trivial crap (or maybe because of it).

She should also be in Happy Meals and on Pringles cans, which she's not.

It's not fat-shaming, it's clueless and offbrand. Pretty sure wonder woman gets enough exercise kicking butt to not need diet bars. Male ad execs don't know how to market this heroine. "ah, woman character, must market to women... they diet a lot, right?!" Does Superman market diet supplements for men? Of course not. I'd be ok with her marketing a lot of things. Weightlifting gear, lassos, health food, gold bangles, happy meals, awesome boots... sure.

I guess we should be happy she's not on the tampax box.

You have to stop reading Daily Mail, Cap'n. It is the lowest of the low. I don't think anyone sane is truly upset by that promotion, stupid as it is. Tired sighs is what it will gain - and added to the long list of reasons that DC has no clue.

"Male ad execs"? Yes, Superman was on health food, particularly on granola bars and cereal boxes in the 80s. Yes, even superheroes need to work out, they don't show it in the movies (though they do show it often enough in the comics). The situation is neither "clueless" or "off-brand", this new branch of feminism is out of their damned minds. "Healthy at any size" is bunk.

Health food ≠ diet bars. Diet bars are rarely actually good for you. Artificial sweeteners, chemicals...

Granola bars are not diet bars, neither is most cereal. I'd be fine with WW on those boxes. Too bad Wheaties only uses real people.
Working out is great. I think that a crossover ad with Curves Gym would be much more appropriate.

Do not ****ing ruin this movie for me with MRM victim syndrome.

The brand in question is a protein bar, not a "diet bar", it's to be eaten in conjunction with performing regular, usually high-impact, workout routines. Feminists are mad about Wonder Woman, and film creators, supposedly telling them they need to be more fit.

An incredibly fit, toned, super-athlete is promoting fitness? That's not too shocking, is it?

Saw WW. Well made, but the third act was a mess. Character development, blah blah blah. I wouldn't say it fell apart at the end, but it was staring into the abyss.

The crew I was with, and the theatre, totally enjoyed this. Cheering, laughing, applauding.

There were many things they got right, so this felt satisfying to me. I do worry that with some of the canon changes they may have painted themselves into a corner vis a vis future storylines.

Still, I'd see it again and Gadot did a great job. She had the right mix of innocence and anger, kicked ass in the battle scenes, and had pretty good comic timing as well.

What reviews I have read indicate that there this a good movie in many respects - basically, the director can direct instead of just revelling in CGI as some I could name - but that the script just Does Not Make Sense. Given that I am sensitive to that (cf One, Rogue), I think that I should probably skip this one until it enevitably shows up on Netflix.
