This is like the ninth time this fine but unavailable girl (who's a friend of mine, by the way) bothers me to get some information from the internet, whether I am there personally, or when I am relaxed at in my own house. At this rate, and given her income level, it doesn't seem likely that she'll ever get a BB, iPhone, or Droid, much less paying for the data plan. How do I show her that it is in my interest that she gets with the times already?

My friend did that and when she called I would pick up the phone and say 411.
She got the message and stopped.

This can't be that big of a deal. My sister calls me all the time asking where the closest post office is and what the address is to a certain restaurant while she is out with her boyfriend (now fiance). I can't get rid of my sister, but you can sure fix your friendship. My sister is great and all, but I am not 411.

If it appears that she can not afford a smartphone, why would you want to encourage a friend to get something she can not afford?
Just ignore her texts if you are too busy to do it. And when she's in the room with you, be a friend and loan her your phone for a few minutes.
