Try visiting the websites and finding out. Or better yet, give them a call.

i just purchased a new 15AL PB from Amazon... 2599 with no tax and free shipping... however, they screwed up by not changing the status of the order on their website... so the day of delivery, it still said shipping soon... a minor screw up, but it came alright..

I used CDW, based in Chicago, IL. They provided excellent customer service, and sent my PowerBook 17-inch Rev. A tax-free, because they didn't have a local branch here in New York. Here are their shipping options:

Special Shipping Rates

Ground Service:
$6.49 for 1-7 pound orders with a total order value of $500 and under
Expedited Service:
Two-day service to the West Coast for the price of ground
$10.99 for 2-day service on 1-5 pound orders $2,500 and less
$11.99 for next afternoon service on 1-5 pound orders $2,500 and less
$14.99 for overnight service on 1-50 pound orders in the Chicagoland area

They have an excellent customer satisfaction rating on epinions.com, which matches my ordering experience with them.

jandr.com in NY has a stock of 15" and 12"
They have "real" overnight delivery. You can also get a deal, I told them macconection.com
is giving away free 512MB, so they gave me $70 discount. Highly recommended store,
I've bought three powerbooks from them.

Ditto CDW

Free Overnite (ASK)

Had over 200 in stock when even Apple Store was out.

No Sales Tax, No Dead pixels, No Hard sell.

I'll shop again (Now they own Mac/Micro Warehouse)

They had 17's for sure.

Can you get PB from online resources that have more than the basic configurations? Say I want a 12" PB but want the 60 or 80gig harddrive or is the online Apple Store the only place.

Can you go to an Apple Store and purchase PBs with larger harddrives or do they just create an order similar to one you could do online yourself?

I suppose Frys, CompUSA only have the basic configurations.

Thanks

Kelvin
