I won't be upgrading straight away.

Jaguar is stable and fine for the moment on my Ti... and I am doing a lot of mission critical stuff at the moment so don't need the upgrade hassles...

As I have also been burnt in the past, I will be upgrading after the first 'Point' release just to be safe.

Oh, and I resent paying for Mac OS X for the 10th time... but I guess that's another issue.

Peace,

Marc

considering it is a 10% performance gain out of the box, i would say it is well worth the price for that alone.

Reading the reports from the testers in the field, I will upgrade immediately, if not but for the sole increase in battery life alone.

I will, first day this baby finally comes out of hiding... it'll be put and locked away into my Powerbook.

In my book, Panther is Apple's biggest news next year--bigger than the Al PowerBook lineup or the G5. I can't wait to take the next step.

The question is, how to buy? There are two ways I'm considering:

1. $99 from amazon.com for Panther alone.

2. OR, for $2900 more, I can get a version of Panther that includes a 17" PowerBook in the box...

The main question for me on when will I upgrade is, will I have to pay for it or will I get it free since I just bought my PowerBook. I might just go for the family pack if I have to pay so I can have the Cube covered as well.

I will wait and see what others have to say. The speed increase would be nice-but since I`m not doing any challenging work I don`t need it right away.

Expose would be nice though!

It depends when it comes out. I'm going to be on tour for the next four months, with occasional stops back home. My PowerBook will probably not get updated until the tour is over in February because I can't afford to mess around with it and have something go wrong while I'm away from home. If I'm home when Panther is released, I'll buy it right away and install it on my desktop so I can try it out. After a while if it's been proven really, really stable and I have a few days at home, I'll take the plunge and put it on my PB, cause the extra battery power would definitely come in handy when travelling.

I still cannot forget OS X 10.2.5 or the first version of OS X 10.2.8...

I think I'll try upgrading on an external FW CCC OS before I take the plunge. But it may wait until 10.3.1.

I already did - 7B85 anyway. And I will be buying it the first day it's out, too. Same as I did Jaguar.

Anyway, the only issue I've seen so far is that the drivers for my Brother laser printer do not work perfectly with Panther. Hopefully they will release updated drivers once the retail version is on the shelves.
