The last good SP campaign I played was FarCry3, which I'd consider SP focused. It did have multiplayer, but it was the most generic multi that had no legs. The trend is clear.

Kaz Hirai: The PS4 is Already Profitable With Hardware Alone | DualShockers
The PS4 has already recorded a profit with hardware alone, and in that it’s different from the business model of previous platforms.
It really is the anti-PS3

Battlefield and CoD really should mimic the Titanfall model at this point. I just hope there's always a market for dedicated single-player FPS. Of course, I'm not playing anything except FIFA and Persona right now...

That said, I really want to see more of The Division. That game was almost entirely off my radar until a few days ago.

I haven't been able to log in to Uplay on the Trials Frontier iPad game for the last few days either, I haven't got Trials Frontier on the Xbox, but apparently that uses Uplay too.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

Uplay is the reason I never pick up Ubisoft games until they're on sale. It is truly awful, and I actively uninstall it every time I've finished a game on it. Origin I at least leave on the drive.
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

I suppose I should watch this trailer. From what I've heard it sounds like it caters to the CoD crowd more than BF, though.

PlayStation Plus – 2 Titles Per Month for PS4, PS3, PS Vita – PlayStation.Blog

As you’ll see below, starting in June, members will have access to two titles per month for each of our platforms.
Good. I still find PSN to be unreliable, so this makes up for it (or would if I liked anything they released lately)

In your opinion, At this point what are the must-have AAA console exclusives for the two new consoles?

Also, any hopes and expectations for E3 next month?

Last Guardian (more like a dream at this point).

Nintendo's big E3 pre-announcement is a Wii U adapter to let you use Gamecube controllers. We're not actually swimming in big gaming news right now.

Looks like its finally getting hard (for me anyway). And that brings me to one of my most hated aspects of solo games : the ****ing checkpoint.

Wii U sales in the UK increased by 666% due to Mario Kart 8's release.

So it's official: Reggie Fils-Aime is the antichrist.

I'm struggling to find something to play on PS4 right now. I'm in the mood for a good single-player FPS, but wondering if Wolfenstein would do the trick. mattyb, are you enjoying it? I know you thought it was too easy, but what about the story, atmosphere, etc?

Get it. If, like me, you can't pass a certain level after 20 attempts, change the difficulty, beat the level and then change it back. So far, really enjoying it.

Colleague this morning played it over the weekend. Rates it highly but he's playing a dodgy version so can't do the online hacking stuff.

I have a feeling that I'd get frustrated by the 'management' that it entails. Plus turd person.

Cool story. I regretted not keeping the game long enough to play the single-player.

Maybe the multiplayer won't disappoint the second time around.

Watch Dogs is the biggest new IP launch in the UK ever • Eurogamer.net

Watch Dogs has stormed to the top of the UK all-format charts and earned itself the biggest launch week of any new IP in the UK ever, beating previous record holder LA Noire's haul by more than double.

The open-world hackathon is Ubisoft's biggest ever game launch in the UK. Watch Dogs beat the publisher's previous peak for launch week sales - set in 2012 by Assassin's Creed 3 - by more than 17 per cent.

Overall, Watch Dogs is the 17th biggest game launch in the UK of all time. Only games from four established franchises - GTA, FIFA, Call of Duty and Battlefield - have ever sold more.
I never expected this.

Didn't plan on my wrath, did ya?

Single player was as beige as they come and the multi showed some promise when it worked, which wasn't very often. Homefront and Halo Reach were the only games last gen I sold back within weeks (Reach lasted maybe a week IIRC)

I can recall some good games, a quick glance at the Homefront thread and I found a Dakar quote "This shit is fun".

No bets on if they'll have enough servers though - but then EA and Activision can't even sort that shite out.

Lawyers win big in Electronic Arts college sports settlement | Ars Technica

Under the accord, the lawyers said they would keep more than $13 million of the bounty, which is common in class-action cases. They are also requesting an additional $2.5 million in fees to litigate the case that was filed in 2009. The attorneys point out the fees are "particularly reasonable" given that lawyers have spent more than $30 million in litigation (PDF) that also targets the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
The accord doesn't include the NCAA, which is accused of conspiring with EA to "suppress to zero the amounts paid" to athletes. Lawyers are also seeking an injunction preventing the NCAA from blocking the NCAA's rules that hinder athletes from profiting during their collegiate careers.

Holy crap...

...to the second quote in particular. Am I reading that correctly? Are they putting the NCAA's no-profit-for-athletes rule on the chopping block?

The phrasing is strange. Nearly a double negative:

Lawyers are also seeking an injunction preventing the NCAA from blocking the NCAA's rules that hinder athletes from profiting during their collegiate careers.

It reads like they changed phrasing but forgot to delete the previous phrase.

Lawyers are also seeking an injunction blocking the NCAA's rules that hinder athletes from profiting during their collegiate careers.

Good call.

Listening to Jalen Rose talk about walking past a Nike store selling Fab 5 gear (and jerseys with his number on them) as he headed back home to eat microwaved hot dogs without buns has done a lot to bring me around to the athletes' side.

On the video game front, it doesn't kill me that NCAA Football is gone, but I'd still like to see the return of March Madness.

So much of this seems unbelievable to me...
51 DRIVECLUB details that might just blow your mind - PlayStation.Blog.Europe
NASA data was used to accurately map out the night sky – so wherever you are in the world you’ll see the correct star constellations for your location.

All clouds are full 3D models to ensure accurate light diffusion from the sun. They’re calculated at massive distances in a fully volumetric form, so thin clouds cast lighter shadows than dense storm clouds, and their colour impacts the feel of the landscapes and cars.

Some tracks boast over 1.2 million road-side trees – and this number keeps going up as the artists try to out-do each other as development progresses.

The Indian track Chungara Lake boasts a 19,000-strong flock of pink flamingos, all behaving independently of each other.

The cars have realistic layered paint materials – base metal or carbon layer, primer coat, base colour coat, two metallic paint coats, clear top coat, etc. – which can all be stripped away individually as part of the damage system.

When you race, the engine sounds are different based on which of the six camera views you choose – inside or outside of the car. You’re not hearing the same engine audio with a filter – it’s all recorded separately.
