That's all pretty incredible to read.

Good thing we'll be able to check out whether it sucks or not...for free.

I bet all those suckers who bought an XBOne are kicking themselves for wasting an extra $100 on something Microsoft seems to not be fully supporting anymore.

I bet some of those developers are pissed who made Kinect games. They won't have a chance to sell their games to people who buy the Kinectless console.

BTW, what's up everyone? Haven't been around in awhile. Good to see you guys!

Well, the problem was that there aren't any developers like that, except studios owned by MS.
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

I'd agree that there are no "must-have" titles, but there are some pretty good games. The problem is that most are indie $10-15 indie titles that don't fully show off the systems' capabilities.

Infamous is my favorite title so far, but my tastes aren't really the same as most of you guys, so take that with a grain of salt. It's definitely very pretty though.

There are still plenty of great games on 360 and PS3. I'll stick with my 360 for at least till the end of the year.
100% safe. There's still a huge backlog of last-gen titles that deserve attention. I hope the PS4/XB1 generation lasts a few years longer than the last. There's still some life in the old codgers.

I'd say, "Yes," and, "Yes."

My brother-in-law refuses to disconnect his Kinect, but every time he's tried to demo it for me, things go horribly wrong, then he blames his southern accent.

So IGN reported The Last Guardian was cancelled, prompting a vehement response from SOny that no, indeed, it's still in development. ****ing hilarious.

Also, E3 is upon us.

These might be my favorite type of articles.

Microsoft: Destiny seeing resolution boost from leaving out Kinect | Ars Technica

No concrete numbers, nothing but a vague inference that the X1 version is almost as good as the PS4 version.

Saw that one too. MS should just stop talking about resolution now. The correct response at this point is to show two screenshots of a game, Xbone to the left, PS4 to the right, and invite the comparison.

I watched 5 minutes of IGN's live feed where they recapped Microsoft's presentation as "hitting it out of the park." Then I read the headlines that recapped their event.

Am I missing something, or was it nothing special? A few games look good, but nothing amazing, and no huge surprises. The Master Chief Collection, or whatever they're calling it, had been previously leaked.

Really not finding Destiny's art style nearly as distinctive as I'd like. It looks like a generic free-to-play shooter.

Still have it pre-ordered.

PlayStation TV set to launch fall 2014 in North America, Europe | Ars Technica

At its keynote address at E3, Sony officials said the $99 device pairs with a PlayStation 4 and allows for remote play on a second TV on the same network. PSTV enables access to video and streaming services, too. On top of that, owners will instantly have access to 1,000 games immediately via the PlayStation Network and PlayStation Now.
I thought I read somewhere you can play PSP games on it. Definitely interested.

Destiny coming first to PlayStation on September 9 | Ars Technica

“Destiny isn't just first on PlayStation, it's better,” House added. “In addition to all the extra content that only PlayStation customers will receive, we'll also have a white PS4 that comes on September 9.”
So, BF: Hardline Demo, Destiny Beta, and GTA V announced on PS4 first. Say what you will about the Wii, but it didn't get shoved to the back as fast as the X1 did. Holy cow.

You can play 'Far Cry 4' multiplayer on PlayStation even if you don't own the game | The Verge

Far Cry 4 will allow players to join multiplayer sessions even if they don't have copies of the game, Sony has revealed. Speaking at the company's E3 press conference, Sony's Adam Boyes said that people playing Ubisoft's open-world shooter on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 3 will be able to invite any of their PSN friends into their game when it launches in November.

If they come out with an interesting price for a PS4 500G + Vita bundle in France, I'm in. At the moment its 580/600€ (~$785/$812).

It will play "selected" PS1, PSP and Vita games, which could mean just about anything, but apparently there will be over 1000 games at launch. Which is a lot - some googling shows that the PS1 had about 1300 games released over its entire life span, and the PS2 a few more at around 1500.

Hilarious to think what the narrative for the One would have been if they simply offered a Kinect-less model from the start at a competitive price. It's unfortunate because I think the Kinect is an amazing piece of hardware, I just don't like motion controlled gaming.

It plays all Vita games, and any of the Playstation classics available on PSN. The PSP games are where support gets hit-or-miss, from what I understand.

Pretty staggering. I don't know what they did to warrant this, but I'm guessing massive piles of money were involved. It's amazing what a little desperation (instead of arrogance) does for a company.

If they have nearly twice as many customers as their competitor, it benefits the publishers.

Been seeing videos for a 4x Civ-space game called Pandora: First Contact. I can't seem to draw a conclusion on it because its UI seems very opaque. Compared to civ, all the info feels uniform and difficult to differentiate. Also, given that its being passed around, I can only assume the Civ % in space game (don't remember the name) was started in response to this.

This leads me to another strange phenomenon which I don't recall seeing in video games like you do in movies. Turner & Hooch/K-9 Cop; Armageddon/Deep Impact

Video games: Chivalry/war of the Roses confused the hell out of me. Two medieval combat games completely out of the blue at the same time? And now two Civ (and civ-like) 4x games. Odd.

You mean other than the first one? LA and ALttP effectively lock your progress until you've finished stages, but the original Zelda only locks access to future dungeons and various goodies - you can walk all over the map from the second you start (minus single screen areas that only serve as dungeon entrances), and you can do a lot of dungeons completely out of order.

After Earth, and it's more like they're both trying to be Alpha Centauri. I agree that they look very similar though - it's the hexes and the map borders that does it.

This last is almost certainly someone thinking "I love SMAC, but these hexes and one unit per tile are really a step forward. I should make a Civ V mod to make use of that! Oh no, Firaxis messed up the mod support in Civ V (as opposed to Civ IV, which has extensive mod support, even if only parts of it work on Mac). Maybe I should make my own game instead?".

In general, there is a bit of a strategy game boom right now. Engine reuse and easy sales through Steam mean that you can make money even with a smaller audience. I also think that Civ IV mod support is a big part of it - remember how there was an explosion of FPS games based on people who cut their teeth making Doom WADs.

But twin games... inFamous/Prototype?
