I wanted to get people's feedback on whether or not they have noticed fewer dropped calls with the new 2.1 software?

Seems to be the case so far. Reception, however, is not improved.

Apple's advertising it, and also you could look in the 2.1 thread. The fewer dropped calls comes from the improved 3G reception.

yep way better for me already as well. As far as I can tell I'm not having an issue with automated phone systems like I was sometimes before, either.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I've seen a dramatic increase in reception since the 2.1 update.

Inside my home: From "No Service" to 2 or 3 bars and EDGE.
Outside my home: From 1 bar to 3 or 4 bars and 3G.

I can use my phone at home now. I couldn't before 2.1.

At work: From 1 or 2 bars and EDGE to 3 or 4 bars and 3G.

I can comfortably surf the web at what feels like broadband speeds and have only dropped one call in the 3 or 4 days since updating. Prior to the update, I dropped more calls than I completed and had the "Call Failed" error daily.

My only real, daily annoyance is when you have multiple tabs open, with pages loaded in the background (say Google Reader or the NY Times)... Then switch to a new tab, it frakkin' reloads. The content is already there... You can see it as you're browsing tabs, but select it and you have to wait for it to reload. Makes using tabs kind of a drag.
