I am seeking to replace one of the 256 mg sticks of memory in my Powerbook (12 " Aluminum) with a 1G stick.
Does anyone either have anything like this for sale or could they point me in the right direction to find the least expensive 1G stick available?
Thanks.

You dont replace the 256MB in a 12", there's one free open slot for it so anything you get is going to be 256MB more total, ie. 512MB chip = 768MB total. Having said that, if you have a Rev A or Rev B 12" let me know if your interested in a 512MB stick from crucial (I think it has a lifetime warranty on it but am not sure). Specs as follows:
PC2100
512MB

Thanks. I should have mentioned that I have two 256 mg sticks already in the 12 " Powerbook. How do I discover if it is a rev a or rev b and what is the difference?
Thanks.

867 MHz = rev A
1 GHz = Rev B
1.33 GHz = Rev C
According to Apple's specs, the Rev A & B machines can take up to 512MB SODIMMs while the Rev C can take a 1GB SODIMM. However, it real life, all three can take 1GB SODIMMs.

Click on the Apple icon at the top left corner and highlight "About This Mac" and it'll tell you your processor speed.

Is that better or worse and what are the implications of having a "B" rather than an "A"?
Thanks for your patience.

The implications of it being a B are that it runs at 1 GHz rather than Rev A's speed of 867 MHz. The memory is the same.

When you do purchase your RAM please gimme first shot at getting your spare 256MB RAM card if you do intend on selling it, my GF has an iBook and needs some more RAM but doesn't need too much. I got $25 with your name on it. My RAM offer is still offered as well (see above). I too have a Rev B .
