I have my Tungsten | T connecting to the net via bluetooth and my computer, but I would like to be able to send and receive email with my Tungsten | T and my t68i.

I have them paired and whatnot, but when I try to connect I get a timeout error - not from the server, but from the Tungsten. It looks as though the Tungsten is not waiting long enough for my t68i to dial

Does anyone know how to fix this or any online resources that might help?

Which carrier are you with? AT&T doesn't allow CDPD (dialing as a modem) you can only connect to the internet via GPRS. Some of the other carriers (tmobile for instance) do allow for CDPD.

I am with Roger's in Canada...

...Anyways the problem is not with the network, the Tungsten does not wait long enough for the t68i to dial.

I don't know if this is the correct option, but in the Palm under Prefs > Network > Details there is an Idle timout that you can make 1,2,3 minutes or Never. I have mine set to 3 minutes and never had a problem.

Just tried that and it does not help. when I try to connect to the phone the Tungsten has a dialog box which says "retrying" as it if is tring to re-dial. It does this way too fast. During this, the t68i has not even had a chance to finish dialing all of the numbers to my ISP!

Perhaps I am using the wrong modem script on the Tungsten. I can't remember where I got it from, but it was some backwater site on the net.

It currently reads

speed: 115,200bps

init string: E0X1+CMEE=1;+CSCS="GSM";+CMGF=0;V1

I am going to try different speed settings...

I think I got my drivers (for my Palm m505 with Palm Bluetooth Card) from the Palm site (here)

The script for my connection :
Speed: 57,600bps
Init String: X1E0+CMEE=1;+CSCS="GSM";V1

If that doesn't work you could try the Brighthand Forums

Good luck.

I take it you downloaded the latest Phone Link app from Palm, took me about 6 taps to set it up when I did it...

yes I have the newest phonelink... I know that it should be simple as pie... But I am nt using GPRS - I am using the t68i as an analog modem, you the kind that take At commands?

The tungsten simply times out way too fast. The phone does not even get a chance to dial...

Anyways, I have not had a chance to try the previous poster's idea...

This seems kinda weird to me. Where do I enter the phone number that I want to call? after atd*99#
> where # is the number I want to dial?

username: how am I supposed to identify myself to the server? In the login script I guess?

password: well which is it, leave it blank or assigned?

Your help is appreciated

I'm pretty sure that *99# is only going to get you to the GPRS service.

Exactly, which is why I was pointing out how that string wasn't going to get him where he needs to go
