I ordered mine the minute the store came back up. I'll use my shuffle for exactly what I use it for now: Running and the gym. For every iPod, there is a purpose

It would be interesting to see what Apple wants to do with the line over time and other developers.

I want a black on too. I just bought my wife a shuffle. 1 GB for $99. I would have to pay double that for a screen, and more space, neither of which she needs for jogging, and going to spin class. For her, less is more, just turn it on, and listen.

For me, however, being more into music, and perhaps wanting several more albums on there, I wouldn't mind this nano, and its audio book abilities, album art display, and dock connector. Plus it comes in a sexy black, which is what I don't like about the shuffle.

just by the firewire cable. it's sold separately. Or save your money instead of buying new ipods and get a new computer

If you look at the tech spec at the bottom of the spec page, it says it can be charged via USB or Firewire! Also included is a dock adaptor.... this seems unique to the nano and not bundled with any other ipod?!

Anyway I want one rigth now. And all the accessories too. This thing is gonna be a massive hit.

there seems to be a rather large gap in capacities for iPods now... no intermediate... (however, for a little more than nano, you can get regular iPod)

Are you sure that it can be connected via FW? Charging doesn't mean connection.

That's the standard mini vs. regular iPod question. At least now these are A LOT smaller.

I hope there is the option to transcode music to 128 kbps AAC when you sync to the Nano. 2 GB feels small enough to warrant it (although ideally, all iPods would support this feature).

yes, but the gap has widened... really the nanos (however cool they are) are just better shuffles, IMO

It sure is a nice looking product. I thought the ipod minis were smooth looking but this definitely takes the cake.

Makes my ipod look like an absolute brick.

My guess is that the adaptor is some sort of insert so the very thin nano can fit in the dock.

It can be charged with a Firewire to dock connector, but not transfer songs. I have confirmed this. A shame really. Now I have to get a USB2 PC card for my powerbook.

It looks great but...

Compared to the mini it might be smaller but it offers less storage, more fingerprints and less battery life. What I would prefer is to keep the mini design and the anodized aluminium, add a color screen, double the capacity with dual 4gb flashes and slightly reduce the size...

one thing i'd like to see...
being able to reverse the software, so for the black nano (actually, for either one), you could have white text on a black background.

that would be pretty amazing...

I think the name is one of the most appealing names that Apple has given an iPod. "Shuffle", "mini", and "photo" are okay names but they don't have a cutting edge sound to them, which "nano" does. It's still a little quirky in true Apple fashion, but IMHO it is one of the best names that Apple has come up with.

I'm guessing they'll introduce something later this month (the Expo is this month, after all) that will fill the void left by the disapperance of the iPod mini. Perhaps a re-vamped iPod mini. Who knows.

I love the Nano though. It looks like iPod's little brother.

I don't think there's a void between nano and the regular iPod. The point of the mini was to be small. It's just not that much smaller than the regular iPod.

the mini's selling point was that it was less wide than the iPod, and also it came in colors!

now their whole line-up is white/black again. :X

Who cares about the freaking colors. Those colors were lame. Apple products should only be black and white or titanium. Colors make them look cheap.
