And it looks like genuwine aging. Look at the pitts and rust and internal extrusions. The engraving is worn and of uneven depth from wear. I'll bet it's real.

Seems self evident to me if you read the thread or even just the pertinent posts completely.

If you guys would know anything about Southeast Asia then you would know that it doesn't make any sense at all to discuss correct spelling (roman alphabet) in any of those countries (except Singapore probably)!!
Ok, I have never been to Vietnam (only Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore) and I just had to find out that the Vietnamese already dropped the Chinese alphabet a long time ago and are now using the chữ quốc ngữ which is some form of the Portugese (Roman) alphabet. This could mean that they are a lot better in spelling than the Thai for example (in Thailand there's at least one typo in every sentence)...
I'm still pretty sure that you'll find Quinhon, Qui Nhon, Quynhon and Quy Nhon just about everywhere (along with a few more versions)!
As far as I understood the wiki article, I would say Qu i Nhon is rather an old version ("or Qu y Nhon as more often written presently!")
Now please continue to fight!

if you go to the war museum in HCM city they have lighters like this on display, they go at auction for about 800 USD each if engraved with the battalion insignia, you can buy copies all over vietnam for about 10 to 20 USD.

I bought for myself one of those fake Zippo's after taking the tour of the Cu-Chi tunnels.
Haggled the price down to $5 the zippo's are fake but it works very well.
I must say I think his Zippo looks very real.

Why, because nobody would be so dumb to buy a fake one for $ 400 ?
I want to believe...

I don't think what_the_heck will be happy until it is proven to be a fake.

Meh, I don't need prove. The odds that he got a genuine Zippo are very slim. They do very good replicas over there, and it's really hard to verify beforehand if it's legit or not.
