Even the uncut version is for tweenage boys.

It's called Japanese parents are more lenient in what they let their children see than Western parents are.

Swearing and blood != adult.

Because they're Dragon Ball fans. Isn't that reason enough?

Hah!!!

Other cultures portray censorship differently to the US, No their not more lenient, they just dont breed morons who go on mental rampages killing everyone in site to emulate a favourite game they just played.

Don't try to enforce your evil belief (blood !=adult crap) onto other, respect that most Asian cultures are so desensitised to blood and gore that its all just fun and games. NO one actually takes it seriously!!! Cant you see they are just trying to have fun?

Ever watch a Chinese ghost story???
Then you know what I mean, its probably R or X rated in the US, but is viewed on national TV in most Asian countries, and even in Australia.

Dont BLAME dragon ball for BAD PARENTING!!!

::this is not aimed at anyone in particular

gee, i wonder how many adults watch pg-13 movies, just because i'm in my twenties doesn't mean i have to watch only r,nc17, and x-rated stuff

also around 50 years ago, amercian kids weren't coddled like they are now, people let them face reality

these days, you're forced to hide the fact from that death is real, etc. and they think that if you kill someone, they just get back up again
(ok, so in dragonball people can be wished back from the dead, but at least you know they were DEAD, not sent to ANOTHER DIMENSION like the american version says)

Fact: DBZ is lame as hell and you'll figure that out in due time.

Fact: Not all anime is terrible. Try watching Cowboy Beebop or Blue Gender on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim block. If you're just coming off DBZ you might need one of those crack animes. I recommend Inuyasha for now but you'll outgrow that too.

DBZ is crap. End of story.

Ok a little story: Completely contrived, horribly repetitive plots. That's about it. Here's a good summary of the entire show: http://www.virtualroofie.com/flash/dbz.htm

The whole anime thing is odd to me...maybe I'm just getting old

They're just cartoons man! Why do you people get so worked up over them? I stopped watching cartoons when I was 12....

It was the playboy channel from there on out

The manga's not too bad.

As to cartoons being for kids, that's American cartoons (with a few exceptions). Anime isn't just a genre of cartoon. There's anime (and manga) for kids, for adults, for boys, for girls, sci-fi stuff, fantasy stuff, drama stuff, everything. Anime has all the variety of live-action tv, and more, because it adds the dimension of drawing style.

Most anime, just like most Western animation, is for kids. Some fans are finding more in their favorite anime series than is really there. (Doesn't help much that Cartoon Network decided to put Inu Yasha on the Adult Swim block.)

You'll find the same thing with certain fans of Western cartoons. No matter how deep you think the original He-Man and the Masters of the Universe series is, it's still for children.

There is quite a bit of Japanese manga aimed at adults, however. But little of that is turned into anime.
