I'm sitting here doing some homework, and I realized how annoying the spellchecker is. If I'm in a stream of thought, the red underline distracts me. I don't have inline spellcheck on my web browser, and I don't miss it. Appleworks doesn't have it either, and I like it that way. My AIM client and Textedit do, however, and it is starting to bug me.

My question to you is, do you use inline spellcheck?
Why or why not?

I do. It's easier than breaking my flow by spell-checking manually all the time.

No.

I can't stand spell-checkers. Correcting typos and misspellings manually as I type doesn't bother—I do it more or less automatically. If I come upon a word I'm not sure how to spell, I look it up in the dictionary (F12 only takes a second or two).

Spell-checkers are forever second-guessing what I write (even when it's not misspelled). Everything that's not a common word always gets red lines under it, and then you constantly have to add words or tell the spell-checker to ignore them.

It would be nice if you could make the underline a little less colorful.
