I have $10-$15k with which to purchase a vehicle.
I'd like a Honda Accord or similar. Something reliable that gets good mileage. I want something that's no more than a few years old.

Detailed specs:
mid sized.
Reliable.
4 cylinder engine.
I don't need any fancy stuff like leather.
Automatic.
Power windows, locks, etc.
I need a car alarm, but it can be installed after.
Good mileage, I'll be doing a mix of city and highway driving, lots of stop and go.

Suggestions? Please list specifics, ie. a 2002-2004 Accord works well, or such. I need to make a short list so I can go out one afternoon and come back with a car.

Figure out how much insurance is going to cost you first. Then pick a car you can afford to insure.

Toyota Camry Solara, 1999-2000 Vintage (get under 60K miles), and get it loaded.

Friend of mine got a 99' loaded black on black leather for $8,999. A real slick looking car, and it's a Toyota so expect to own it until you decide to buy another Toyota.

Anything Japanese.

Avoid European models because of their reliability problems.

Seconded and Thirded.

Americans can still build trucks (and big SUVs) better than the rest. Although, if the new Tundra is going to be as good as it's hyped to be, I think Detroit should start crapping their pants.
