I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I like what I see (and not just 'cause of Christina Ricci, rowr). Yes, the Wachowskis have enlisted every last dairy farmer in the state of Wisconsin just so they could make it as cheezy as is humanly possible, but they've got a pretty good eye.
Looks like it's gonna hit every single one of the classic Speed Racer's schticks, too. I'm gonna look at this as a vibrant and colorful Sin City for kids. My son's gonna love it.

I never thought I'd say this.
The movie tailer looks good in parts and wicked cheesy in other parts. I'll have to wait and see on this.

The actor who plays Speed said he didn't leave the green screen once.

Other than the car and a few indoor sets I assume the whole thing is digital backgrounds.

I'm glad they cast Christina Ricci. Trixie was due for a hot makeover. I always wondered what cartoon Speed saw in cartoon Trixie. I mean, he's a race-car driver. He's supposed to have a hot babe on his arm. Not some awkward looking waif. Ricci is a nice upgrade.

That's exactly what I thought. I thought the beginning was pretty cheesy, but the end was pretty good looking.

That was goooooood. In a bad sort of way. The movie will probably be action packed and fun, but then they'll make a second and third movie and both will make no sense and then end up sucking.

Yep, got this message too:

I was really urked when I tried to watch Tinman on the Sci-fi webpage. Oh look, not available in your region. Sure, you're GIVING it away free online with ads that for some reason you DO let me watch before telling me I can't view your movie. I'm sick and tired of that BS.
And people wonder why everyone downloads TV shows and movies.

Christina looking better than ever, and anyone misses who she is? I'm astounded. She looks better and hotter than I've seen her in anything. Maybe it's the special camera, maybe it's the hair and makeup, or maybe she's just hitting her stride. Either way, WOW!

Admittedly I thought it might be Rose McGowan for half a second, until I resized the image bigger.

Yeah, mario karts on acid could become the new monkeys on acid.
Anyway - speedracer - l remember the cartoon, and can hardly see the need for a feature length version.
Dumbass hollywood strikes again with yet another 'safe' regurgitation.
Christina looks good - she was also in Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas.

Just heard a story on NPR this morning about this movie. 'Speed Racer' a Far Cry from 1960s Cartoon Series : NPR
I'm going to take my kids to see it this weekend. I didn't know Speed Racer was among the first Anime. I got the cartoons on DVD for the kids last year and was rather amused by how much my 5-year-old really got into it. It is sooooo weird.

Yeah, I'm not sure what to make of it based on the preview. Doesn't look promising, but I'll go based on it being made by the Wachowski brothers.

Oh ya that is a HUGE plus.
The GM didn't bother me at all, I thought all the cars looked cool anyway. Wouldn't ever buy one though so who cares

What do you consider a Chevrolet Camaro to be? For me it was even more pansy-ass than a VW bug.

Good question.
It should be noted though that where I grew up, the Camaro was always known as the I-wish-I-could-afford-a-better-car-but-I-can't-so-I'm-buying-a-used-Camaro-cuz-my-dick-is-short car.

I always considered a Camaro a wannabe-sport car. But that still puts it light-years ahead of a Bug.

I feel like the Camaro is sort of the poor man's Corvette, except perhaps the late '60s Z28s.
