Hardware/software specs: 10.5.1 MBP c2d, 3 GB.

item 1: First experienced this problem after installing 10.5 (Archive/install). Occasionally when I attempt to shutdown or restart the system goes as far as darkening the screen but never completely shuts down. After waiting sometimes 5-minutes or so I am forced to do a powerbutton forced shutdown. Never had this problem with 10.4.x. Any ideas?

item 2: I've had this happen to be maybe 5 times since installing 10.5.x. At home I've got airport extreme and at work a wired lan. So when I get to work I wake my computer and manually chose my 'work' location my MBP. Sometimes this action will completely hang up the mbp! no cursor control...nothing. I don't recall having this problem in 10.4.x either. Usually I switch the location right after I wake the computer, so maybe I'm at fault to switching so fast....but still....

Anyway, my bigger issue is item 1, so if anyone has any insights/suggestion, I sure would like to hear about 'em.

Oh yeah, the only 3rd party software I've got running include: doublecommand; Openmenu X, Flip4Mac, DivX, Coco spell, and TeX Distribution.

Removed Openmenu X....no change...
Removed Flip4Mac .... no change...
THEN I removed doublecommand.....and now I can shutdown/restart okay. Can't quite figure out why this patch would effect the shutdown? I'm gonna miss the forward delete...but oh well..

Thanks Clinically Insane.

In the spirit of completeness....I went to versiontracker to see if a new 10.5.x version was out and on the comment list, folks cited the restart/shutdown issue. Unfortunately the new beta version has not fixed this issue.
