Owners of smaller online stores will be able to handle Apple Pay
on the web once it arrives this fall as part of macOS Sierra and iOS 10, with two services pledging support for the payment platform. Payment processor Stripe has advised it will start accepting payments via Apple Pay later this year, while Shopify has also confirmed its own system for creating stores will support the technology later this year, with both claiming it to be a simple process.
Stripe's website declares "The same fluid experience Apple Pay provides in iOS apps is now available anywhere in the web,"
reports iMore. The site tells its merchants "Your customers can check out with just their fingerprint across mobile and desktop sites," before reconfirming a launch for this fall. Stripe already has some experience with Apple Pay, with thousands of apps already using the two services together for payments.
Shopify, a service that allows people to easily set up their own online store, advises merchants will be able to add Apple Pay support at no extra cost. Eligible merchants can go to the payment settings in their account and click the "Activate Apple Pay" button to enable it upon its full launch later this year.
