If I'm understanding you, that's already in the recorder.

In fact, it's probably new enough it can handle AES voltage, but I don't feel like smoking the input with a test.

It's not an issue of time. It's an issue of:

1) Rusty skills
2) Not having spares on hand if I **** up
3) Not having a nice, clear workspace,
4) Not having scrap wood to protect what space I do have from lead spatter.

Number two is the real killer. I only had one set of RCA jacks, and they needed to be manhandled to get in the project box. I have since ordered up some extra pairs.
