The latest incarnation of the Firefox web browser has introduced a major redesign of its user interface. The Australis design scheme, first introduced in mid-2012, makes Firefox version 29 look sleeker with curved tabs and a cleaner interface, with some aspects of the browser modernization scheme also spreading from the desktop version to the Android app.

The update brings a higher level of customization than before, with features, tools, and add-ons able to be dragged into the menu and toolbar. A new customizable Firefox Menu collects all the main functions and settings into one area for easy access, along with quicker access to the Add-ons Manager. Bookmarking sites has been improved, with sites able to be added with a single click, with individual tabs able to be pinned.

Firefox Sync has been switched over to use Firefox Accounts, a system Mozilla introduced in February similar to what is offered in Chrome, allowing for the synchronization of the Awesome Bar history, saved passwords, bookmarks, open tabs, and form data across multiple desktops and Android devices, as well as those running Firefox OS.

For developers, Mozilla is highlighting support for WebRTC in this release, which can allow the browser to make video calls and share files with other browser users. An App Manager, which helps mobile developers create apps for Firefox OS from the desktop, is included as part of the release, with the Web Audio API and the Mozilla-pioneered asm.js JavaScript subset also being pointed to by the organization.

The desktop versions for Windows, Mac, and Linux are available as a download or update now, with the Android app update rolling out through Google Play today.

Funny how neither the government nor any law enforcement agency was involved in the whole bigoted Mozilla CEO fiasco, yet people still throw around sensationalist, government-related terms like "crime" and "fascist" and what-not.

I suppose it just goes to show that some people still think you can and should be able to publicly demonstrate blatantly bigoted actions and suffer no social consequences.

Come tell me when the government starts sending the police in when someone expresses bigoted views and then we'll have a nice conversation about "thought crimes" and fascist dystopias.

It's funny how some people are arguing that this Mozilla tool should have some kind of "protection" against losing his job for expressing bigoted views -- the very same views whose sole purpose it is to prevent a certain portion of the demographic from having some kind of "protections."

Protect the man from the repercussions of expressing a view that prevents others from having protections, right? Brilliant.
