Subject: Re: Question from eBay Member

Dear Sir,
The item is new, sealed in the original box and comes
with the factory accesories. It is 100% insured and has
1(one) year of US warranty. We are a US founded company
with electronics and hardware stores in
Spain,Italy,Germany,France,Switzerland,Sweden,Norw ay,Finland,Island.
Our main store is in Madrid,Spain. Our policy for
E-commerce does not allow us to ship you the item
directly from our store. We tried this method but not
with satisfactory results.
We agreed with eBay(as well with other auction sites
like uBid or Yahoo Auctions) to send our high priced
items(like notebooks, plasma TVs etc) to its warehouse
and be inspected first.By this method both
sides(seller and buyer) are insured by eBay Square
Trade. The shipping will be sent to your adress from
Ebays warehouse in Santa Fe,CA ,where the items are
now.
This is preaproved auction, that means that you are not
allowed to bid or buy the item until payment is
completed.
The payment must be sent on the name of our sales
manager Ms.lois stacy to Madrid,Spain. The adress of
our spanish store is:Serrano street,no 5,Madrid,zip
code 28033,Spain.
As payment we prefer Western Union wire transfer and
if you want to use your credit card please visit this
site:www.westernunion.com and make a deposit for only
999$US.After I see you make this deposit I will send
the item and I will wait 10 days to deceide if you
like our items and realy want to keep it.If you don't
like our item you can send back and we will send your
money back imediately. If you see all that we say in AD
is ok and you want to keep thi product you will send
the rest of the money.
Advantages of the Western Union Service :
years of experience in the Money Transfer business
locations worldwide in more than 186 countries
transfer fee charged to the sender
funds available within minutes worldwide
always local currency (usually cash)
easy - no bank accounts or lengthy procedures
reliable - proven track record
convenient - open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, 364
days of the year
high level of security - authorized users only
Ebay will send you a confirmation mail as soon as you
ask a question as "Question for Seller" to backup por
legitimacy and auction.
Thank you for trusting our company.

Yeah, I have been getting a billion of those lately. You should forward them to eBay security or [email protected]. Although I think the spoof site is only for sites posing as eBay.

But definitely go online and alert eBay about this seller. (Probably another hi-jacked account.)

This sounds like the person who also took money from some Dutch guy around Christmas last year. He ordered two computers and never got anything. Not even a thank you for your money and we are gone reply.

It could have been worse, we have those ads in dutch webmarketplaces as well. You can easely recognise them as their appearance screams they are fake.
It's always a lousy copy and paste-job of powermac specifications from someone who probably never ever saw a live powerbook in the first place.

Suckers who buy it learn a valuable lesson I guess

Ok, let me give you the biggest tip that you'll never use.

See the link to how many good comments they have? click it.

If they haven't made an auction in the past 60 days.. don't buy.

If they have but they're relatively small items.. and they are currently selling several big ones.. don't buy!!

These are the 2 marks. The one thing you'll notice is how they went from nothing or small items to several large ticket auctions.

the dutch guy is here ;-)

this one shouts scam in you face. some are a lot harder to spot... they don't look like they're the same...

anyway... ebay & alikes are seriously messed up. it's not just apple stuff. Cisco hardware suffers from the same problems and other area's are being scammed as well... such a shame.

Most of the bogus auctions offer buy it now for around $1000 for new in box 17"PB. They are "pre approved" auctions, they require you to email seller for "permission to bid" then the flood of bogus offers!

Last year I got solicited for a 1Ghz TiBook with SuperDrive, then the most expensive one, for like $1500 or something. In my stupidest moment yet, I didn't instantly recognize it as a scam. I did a couple days later, and way before I would have paid any money. Guy was from Italy I think. I did a little research and found out that those European wire transfer things are always a scam. What was my point? I dunno, that these scammers are dumb f***s and should die.

I agreed, the sad thing is that Ebay is still not doing anything to solve this large problem they have, or even give refunds to any one that got riped off. Because of all these scams, I will never buy anything over $200 on ebay. I don't trust ebay anymore.

It's not just ebay, some legitimate stores with years of maintaining a thrustworthy business reputation can turn into scammers as well. At any moment they can file bankrupcy, let that moment be the moment that they have thousands of prepaid orders waiting..
