Hi,

I have a 2Ghz CD Macbook with 1 GB ram and 80GB HDD (30GB used). I had to restart earlier today cause Excel messing up (wouldn't load). I got a kernel panic after i had restarted (right after the login screen). Well, I just restarted again and now some of my settings were lost (clock and iStat menus). I ran a hardware and everything seems fine. I tweaked around with the fan settings a couple weeks back to get the temps down (10 degree drop with a little fiddling). Should i worried about the hardware. I have applecare so a repair should be no problem.

Checked the RAM is seated correctly?

What was the tweak that you did?

Sustained any bumps or drops recently?

Sry for the late reponse school is taken its toll.

I just had the same excel error again and i restarted. No kernel error this time, but a long start up time for nothing being connected. Ohh well I'll have to wait till it fails i guess... good that i make backups and do have applecare

Sounds like the RAM is a very likely culprit. Do you have any other RAM you can throw in and run it a while to see if you get the same errors?

At the moment no. I could send it in, just for the flickering screen and ask them to switches the ram as well. I need the computer at the moment. So i'll have to stick with it till something happens

What did you run? My MacBook is acting up to, and I was looking for hardware diagnostic, but I have never needed one before, so I don't know where to find it.

Take your system cds and boot up in the hardware diagnostic mode (instructions are on the install disk you got with the macbook)
