" Apple and Think Secret have settled their lawsuit, reaching an agreement that results in a positive solution for both sides. As part of the confidential settlement, no sources were revealed and Think Secret will no longer be published. Nick Ciarelli, Think Secret's publisher, said "I'm pleased to have reached this amicable settlement, and will now be able to move forward with my college studies and broader journalistic pursuits."

That's ok. Since the lawsuit happened, they lost all their credible sources anyway.

I'm surprised that if this is true Apple managed to shut them down. How does the site of many years shutting down work out to "results in a positive solution for both sides"

Because it doesn't financially ruin the owner of the site for life?

Funny way to look at it, but I have a feeling that he was up against some pretty dire possibilities.

Easy the publisher doesn't have to pony up a ton of $$$$, either in lawyer fees or losing the court case. Apple only had to keep the case going to bleed them dry.

I stopped going over to the various rumor sites, like think secret, years ago because they really stopped providing credible rumors.

And there, in a nutshell, is the appropriate response.

There has been no fall off in quality at either Apple Insider or Mac Rumors, IMO.

Somewhat off topic... but does anyone know what happened to ilounge.com?

It hasn't been working for about 3 days now.

Think Secret has never sucked less than after stopping publication.

It was as sad as macosrumors, just making stuff up.

ThinkSecret was usually pretty right on up until last year. I remember the last major rumor that they put up was a day before the new iPods came out and they "confirmed" that the iPod touch had a 120 Gb HD and built in speakers.

Despite what you guys think, it seems like Apple did not have a strong case against Think Secret, and decided, on that basis, to pay the owner to shut down.

Except, on the whole, Think Secret actually had a pretty decent track record.

Has anyone noticed that Think Secret is still posting new stories?

That's odd - you'd think the site would be down at this point.

Perhaps the agreement doesn't actually kick in until 08? Or maybe he can still publish stories on Apple which are not based on inside sources or speculation? We may never know, as the agreement is confidential.

Could this be the end of net neutrality? If you don't like what a site is posting just threaten to sue them. Nice.

There's never been any net neutrality, companies have been suing people running websites, since the dawn of the internet.
