Im in the market for an external hard drive with around 300GB for storage. I need the storage to store my movies for front row. Im getting an intel imac, and from what I understand they are extremely quiet. I want a hard drive that is extremely quiet, if possible i don't want to hear it. I understand that it is possible to build your own external hd for alot cheaper than buying a premade one, but noise is the big issue here, so what would you recommend as a really really quiet, but large hard drive?

Plastic cases are generally quieter than metal ones. Here are a few options.

If you really want quiet, get a networked drive (Newegg has 4 in the $60-70 range) and put it somewhere far away.

Put a 300GB Seagate in any of them.
