hi i am really lost on this-

i want to get an external hard drive for my mac mini but im not sure which one to go for.

i want around 200 gig capacity, preferably with fire wire port, but there are so many brands out there i dont know which to settle for. Previously, i have had problems with my old maxtor hard drive and i am perhaps hesitant to go for maxtor drives (unless of course im convinced i shouldnt expect any problems with their newer models)

thanks very much guys!

go to newegg.com and search for hard drive enclosures. pick one with firewire connectivity and then buy any 200gb harddrive and put it in. its pretty simple, and just stick with the models that have good reviews.

Any of the enclosures on this page should work for you. They all support Firewire (some also support USB), so you can pick based on aesthetics and price.

I like Seagate for drives (5 year warranty), and 200GB drives are about the same price is 250GB drives; I'd go with 250GB for $103.

If you want a drive to compliment your mini, there are about 5 external drives with the same footprint as your mini, so can sit directly under it. Iomega, LaCie and other companies make such drives.
iMac Core Duo 1.83 Ghz | 1.25GB RAM | 160HD, MacBook Core Duo 1.83 Ghz | 13.3" | 60HD | 1.0GB RAM
