How about we continue the discussion in the PL.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

Catholics not as suicide-bomby as muslims as a rule. It'll probably be fine.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

The vast majority of catholic men, and even priests, like boobies, they just put on a front that they're offended to keep up appearances. Jihadists don't, and that's what makes them dangerous.

The billboard in question:

God bless her.

My father and myself were musing about where the catholic "thou shalt think sex is icky" thing came from.

It didn't come from the Jews. God told the Jews sex is "fruitful".

The Romans seemed to dig banging.

Some weird pagan cult which, judging by their attitude, lasted about a single generation?

Were they that way before the Puritans? I'm not sure which way cause and effect ran there.

It was probably a very powerful man with a very small penis who didn't get invited to any orgies and the rest is history.

Blame it on Calvinism, which was heavily influenced by Augustine.

Long before that. Shaddim has it right with Augustine, which gets us all the way back to 4th-5th century.

But who and/or what got Augustine's panties in a bunch?

Proddy myth. Sex is not "icky" Sex outside the sacramnet of mariage is sinful. It's kind of hard to fulfill you marriage vows to be open to children if sex is icky.

You are correct in that "icky" is overstating my case.

"Tolerated" is probably a better term.

Saint Paul spoke on this before Saint Augustine of Hippo

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage...&version=RSVCE
7 I wish that all were as I myself am. But each has his own special gift from God, one of one kind and one of another.

8 To the unmarried and the widows I say that it is well for them to remain single as I do. 9 But if they cannot exercise self-control, they should marry. For it is better to marry than to be aflame with passion.

That's pretty softball compared to Augustine (let alone Calvin), though.

I'd give it 3 months before another major terrorist attack. Western governments will use it as a further excuse to strip away our privacy rights and further militarize the police while doing nothing to fix the root cause of the problem, which is violent Islamic conquest in the name of jihad.

ISIS is adding members faster then an abortion clinic at a private school, and our airstrikes, though tactically effective, do nothing for the long term strategic war we are fighting (whether we want to or not).

Joe Cartoon took this off his website. I guess he is worried the Jihadis will come after him.

Is the answer to give them so many targets by plastering depictions everywhere that there becomes little point bothering to kill anyone?

So one of my customers has been disrupted by this fuss. A building in the middle of the city of Bath was set alight a couple days ago. In the building is a cafe, an advertising/graphic design company a company producing cartoons of some sort and possibly one or two other small businesses. Someone put something through the letterbox at 1am which started the fire. Because of the cartoon company, the press is asking the question as to whether Jihadists were trying to bomb the building. Ridiculous.
