I've been working on my first theme for a few days now and I'm at the point where I've replaced most of the aqua stuff (or at least modified it to suit my purposes.

here's a preview

I'm not sure when it will be 'done', or even if anyone will be interested in a copy when it is.. but I'm having trouble thinking of a name for the theme, so suggestions are welcome - already on the list:

"It looks like ass" and "I like the default theme better"

note to self: girlfriends are not always the best people to ask for theme name suggestions.

Hmmm...names that pop in my head when I saw your preview are:

Office
Cubic
Square (Squared (?))
GeoMetric (GeoMetrix)
Flatron

That's about it...

At least she didn't say "But it's so small!" Or, as a friend said while looking at my work of about 4 months on something not related to themes, "That's it?"

Seriously though, that's a mighty fine mix of colors you've got going there, very easy on the eyes. Very unique toolbar widget, too. As for a name... do what I do and name it after some random geographic location that has absolutely nothing to do with the theme, then watch people try to pronounce it. That, or just do a google search for "name generator" and pick the one you like best! I'm a big fawn of the Lous Farrakhan African Name generator... being known as Shekwan (or Shaft, depending on which name it randomly picks) to my brothers and sisters just seems cool.

Thanks guys - I like the random place name suggestion.. and inspired by wibs post I've referred to the Douglas Adams/John Loydd book "the meaning of Liff" and have sourced what I'm going to now consider the themes' "working title".. and that is "Duntish".

Hmph. I'm liking the looks of it... I'll certainly be interested in a copy when it's done.
My name suggestions aren't very good. I'll I could come up with was:
- Squary-ness
- Blue Squares
- Bluey
- Blue and gray with squares

Although I do like "Flatron" as Dace suggested...

I don't think "Duntish" is a very good name. It sounds like an insult.

I like Azul, although the name reminds of Rhapsodized... (and just OS9 in general)

I would name it Denim Monkey, because of my love for creating mutant denim monkeys in my lab

Just because the widgets look a little like those found on Windows make it a Windows theme not. To me it bears a stronger resemblence to old NeXT interfaces. I might suggest making the fairly standard grey color in the body of windows a little bluer.

I'd use an obscure geographic name like wibs suggested; 'Slate' is cool, but sounds too boring and bland imho.
We need less Democrats and Republicans, and more people that think for themselves.

metal windows bump the widgets a few pixels down and to the right, the only real way around it is playing with the bevel to make it look more centered.

I really don't care what it's called, when you gonna release it? It looks fricking sweet! Clean and with awesome hues of blues.

How about "Beryllium"?

"beryllium __ _
A high-melting, lightweight, corrosion-resistant, rigid, steel-gray metallic element used as an aerospace structural material, as a moderator and reflector in nuclear reactors, and in a copper alloy used for springs, electrical contacts, and nonsparking tools. Atomic number 4; atomic weight 9.0122; melting point 1,278C; boiling point 2,970C; specific gravity 1.848; valence 2. See table at element." (from www.dictionary.com)

how about this - in an effort to use as many of the great suggestions so far.. along with the idea that 'slate' should be in there somewhere AND the idea for making the name weird and hard to pronounce... AND rediciously long... I present to you:

Beryllium-Roxy-Azul-Cubic-Flatron-Atlas-Rearden-Squared-Ophis-Graphite-Office-SLATE pro

or

Bracfarsogo-Slate pro

[Brak far so go]

it's the 'pro' on the end that does it for me!

Gosh, that's a beautiful theme, though I'm really at a loss for words.

But why do people insist on murdering their screenshots with JPEG instead of PNG, and then take a screenshot with iChat and blot out the buddy list? Why not omit iChat or make a new account with a blank buddy list? I never understand this... it destroys the attempt to look at the screenshot for me; all I see is a big blur and I can't focus on the actual shot. Do people think they're being clever?
