I am trying to troubleshoot a problem where immediately after Remote Access logs me online the first click anywhere on the screen is dead and does not register. The next click behaves as expected.

Has anyone experienced this?

I thought about TSM. I am using a Powerbook bronze G3 (1999) and 9.0.4.

At the moment I am suspecting the installation of software for HP 970 and interaction with Desktop printing. At least when I disable all that the first click returns.

I thought that TSM clicks 'through' to something underneath.

thank you for the quick reply

yes, u r correct about TSM but if the TSM pref's file is corrupted... well...

and maybe try ye olde 'trash the Finder pref's' tricke

or maybe your RA pref's are corrupted.

start trashing

thank you again. I had trashed RA preferences and I went back and trashed finder preferences. I found TSM preferences and trashed those too even though I don't know what they are or which program creates them. Still no click.

And then...

I have a program called IdeaKeeper and in the folder provided with the prgram is something called "TSM Fix". I knew I had it but it is dated 1995 and so I figured that is long out of date. However after all else failed I put it in the Extensions folder and sure enough -- I have my first click back.

Now I'm thinking of just trashing the program. The next thing that goes wrong I'm going to suspect that extension!

thoughts?..

In my attempt to troubleshoot this contuining problem I have come to one startling conclusion. All else being equal I can make the problem go away by turning Virtual Memory on. With VM off the 'first click dead after logon' problem returns.

I say all else being equal because I believe I have also eliminated the problem (even with VM on) with various combinations of extensions on or off.

Forever trying...
