Hi all. I'm trying in vain to save my iBook contents. The HD is apparently dead. The contents are irreplacable. Yes, I believe in backups- however- this was backed up 6 months ago and then it went to Iraq. The pictures and music are very important to someone. I ran Disk Utility and it cannot be repaired. I got DiskWarrior and I have tried running from my iMac connecting to the iBook via FireWire. But DiskWarrior does not see the iBook.

Is there a way to make the iMac see the damaged drive?

Can I make a bootable CD of DiskWarrior from the downloaded software?

Thanks.

Instructions for creating a bootable DW CD are at the DW Web site.

It sounds like the drive is indeed dying. On-the-road backups are what a combo drive is designed for, or, lacking that, a portable drive.

If the data is truly that important then your only recourse may be a data recovery service. Be prepared to be shocked at what it will cost!
