Specifically, I want to make sure that port 5900 is open for VNC use.
I was playing around with netinfo manager, but didn't get very far.

What are the console commands to check whether the port is open , and how do I open it ??

Any help is highly appreciated .

Thanks

Alternatively, if you want to do this in a more secure manner, you can tunnel it over SSH. Then, port 5900 does not need to be left open.
