So I got a Ipad finally for entertainment while I’m on lockdown.
My daughter gave me some movies, but I can’t for the life of me figure out how to play them.
Im normally good with computers, but this has got me stumped.
Any ideas?

What file format are the videos? Are the videos on the iPad?
I suggest you install the VLC media player onto the iPad and see if that helps. VLC can play almost any video file format.

If you put the VHS tapes onto the iPad, wrap them tightly and keep them in a closet drawer for two or three days, the movies should transfer automatically.

Thanks!
I downloaded VNC.
My daughter says the movies (actually TV shows like Quincy and Columbo, but shouldn't make a difference) are in USB format.
Now VNC its asking for an IP address and my computer name, any ideas?

VNC is a remote-desktop service. You don't need this - if you downloaded something VNC-related, trash it.
VLC is an open-source video player. Famous for playing just about anything. App store download linked from their iOS page.
There's no such thing as a video "USB format". They're probably .mkv (matroska) container format, which for some reason Apple hasn't been supporting.

Sorry, thanks for your help.
OK I got VLC, my bad, that is confusing.
I called my son in law, he says the movies are in MP4 and should be able to play them.
Now I have VLC, how do I get Quincy into the Ipad, where do I put the sandisk thingy?

The san disk thingy won't go in the iPad without an adapter. Your best bet is to put into another computer and upward the files to an online store such as Dropbox or iCloud Files itself. Then sync them to the iPad and watch them from there.

Thanks!
I don't have another computer here, I thought the Ipad would work and i'm not allowed to see anyone in the lockdown.
What does the adaptor look like? I might have one in my junk drawer.

Google iPad lightning to SD Card adapter. It would be an unlikely ting to have around given the iPad specific connector at one end.
