Hi all, I have a DB G4 500, and I would like to put something better then the stock sound in it. I have found OS 9 drivers for the SB Live, but I'm running OS X.2.8. Does anyone know where I can find drivers for OS X? Or do they even exist? My only other thought is could I use ALSA or the Creative opensource drivers?
Thanks,
Nick

The Mac's on-board audio is much better than the sound blaster Live! certainly in terms of frequency response and stereo coherence.
If you want something better - then I'd agree that the MAudio (Audiophile) PCI cards are good, and also G5 compatible.

The SB Live! is a dead product. No OS X development.

According to these reports on xlr8yourmac, the Creative Labs external (usb) sound card works with 10.3.3:
USB mp3+
you get analog and digital in-out @ $39.
