I seem to have lost the dashboard's ripple. I was showing off the new Tiger to a friend and discovered it missing. Is there a toggle somewhere that I'm not aware of. Perhaps a conflict with Transparent Doc?!

Thanks

Did you ever have it? What videocards do you have? None of the computers you list seems to have come default with a video card that supports it.

Well, the PB 100 still does and I have to assume the PM 125 Dual did too, but now that you mention it I can't swear that I ever tried on the desktop. Profile indicates ATI Radeon 9000 Pro...

Your sig is almost completely incomprehensible... but anyway, the GeForce FX5200 should show the ripple effect, while the Radeon 9000 should not. Very few video cards that shipped with PowerMac G4s support the effect... only the extremely rare Radeon 9700 Pro did. The 9600 and 9800 also support it but they are only available as aftermarket upgrades.

To be clear, which Mac is it on? Have you seen it before on the same Mac and just now it disappeared?

Sorry. Let's try this: Power Mac 1.25 GHz Dual and Power Book 12'' 100 GHz with Panther, ie: now Tiger . I do see it on the PB and thought I saw it on the Power Mac w/ the ATI Radeon 9000 Pro.

100GHz? How much was that? Is window resizing smooth, finally?

You shouldn't have ever seen it on the Power Mac unless you've upgraded it. That card isn't on Apple's list of supported cards.

You were mistaken. You need a 9600+ to get it.

Just out of pure curiosity, what the heck does "PB 12" 100 w/ X4 and AP Extreme" mean??

I mean, I know what a 12" PowerBook is. And I presume you mean 1GHz processor speed from your post above (though I don't know why you've got it listed as "100"). But what is "X4"? That one I just can't figure out.

Cadaver, you disappoint ;-) Here's a riddle: X3 is to Panther as X4 is to? But yes I admit the 12" PB 100 is a little illusive. I should be more consistent with the decimals, but I think that was originally composed in the old days when we weren't given much sig room. I'll amend after I mow the lawn, wash the windows, wax the car and figure out what other benefits a G5 might provide.

Does anyone want to tell him that his PowerBook is not 100GHz?

Tiger is OS X 10.4, not OS X 4. So it should either be (if you're writing it like that): X.4 or X 10.4.

have Mac Speech read X.4 or 10.4... alot of times it reads (ex) 4 or 10 four... there is a chance that it will say 10 point 4 or 10 dot 4
but still
