The iPad mini requires iTunes 11 to sync, some French boxes for the tablet are claiming. The oddity was
spotted by
iGen.fr, which yesterday noted that some people are getting their Minis delivered ahead of the official November 2nd launch. Significantly, though, accounts elsewhere suggest that boxes being delivered early in Germany list the current version of iTunes.
iGen.fr adds that despite iTunes 11 references, the Mini appears to sync properly with present software. The only issue is that iTunes doesn't show the Mini's icon, which Apple could easily fix with an interim patch.
Just this week Apple
pushed the release of iTunes 11 back to November, after having originally promised the download by the end of October. References to the app on Mini packaging may hint that the delay was last-minute, perhaps because of bugs the company couldn't fix in time.
