I just bought a new iMac 17" and have a question about DVDs. Since the 17" is a wide-screen, shouldn't that black line on the top and bottom of the DVDs be gone?
I was looking at the specs, and they claim that @ 800 x 500 the iMac has a 16:10 aspect ratio, aren't DVD wide-screens formated for 16:9 aspect ratio? Shouldn't this mean that the black line is gone?
What am I missing here?

All DVD's have different ratios also. It's rare to have a straight 16:9 DVD. Even on widescreen HDTV sets you get black bars.... Look on the back of the DVD case to see that movies screen ratio.
