Hello,

I have problem! Would be grateful for some advice that can lead me forward.

Has installed El Capitan on my iMac. I Made a "Clean Install”. After a restart, all files and programs was downloaded Time Machine. Everything went well and El Capitan runs OK all the files and programs are there and runs well. Except one - The Mail application.

Mail program does not start. When I try to start the e-mail i got a message witch says that the program needs few minutes to retrieve the mail and that I should press the continue for this to be implemented. But it will not start and a pop up an error message follows. And now I have no idea how to proceed, so I would be really grateful for any advise
Dormie.

Hold down the Option key when clicking the Mail icon. Click "rebuild."

"But it will not start and a pop up an error message follows."

What's the error message? What is the exact text? What you put in the follow-up comment?

There are many, many, like me who have had a problem with Apple Mail sending under El Capitan. Specifically, those of us who use various email accounts, from ISPs, from companies we work with, etc. have found that installing El Capitan changed the parameters we'd previously put in for the smtp outbound server of those email accounts, causing them to show as "offline." After tediously working with each mail account to finally fix this, within a short time, the smtp servers go offline again and we have to play with the parameters again. This is a non-stop big pain. We are all hoping that Apple will have a fix for this within 10.11.1. Your article with 5 reasons to not install El Capitan yet mentioned a different Mail issue, that being tied to Microsoft Office, but a huge number of us have the problem I'm describing, not tied to Microsoft Office.

OS 10.11.1 "supposedly" has a number of fixes regarding Apple Mail. This link describes the fixes:

https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1845?locale=en_US

I don't use Apple Mail, so I can't offer any direct experience (just installed OS 10.11.1 yesterday on both of my machines, and everything is working fine).
