I just can't seem to get my Ti to plug into a monitor and work with the lid closed. I have an apple pro keyboard plugged in via usb with an apple pro mouse connected to the keyboard, and an apple studio display connected to the powerbook as an external monitor.

I sleep the computer, then wake it with the external keybaord and the monitor wakes up, BUT SO DOES THE LCD! Argh, i reckon this is a great feature, but i just can't seem to make it work. Can anyone help or comment?

ps. this is a first gen powerbook 500mhz

AFAIK yo have to shut your PB down. Plug the second monitor in, push the I/0 Button and close the lid then. This should solve the problem!

push the i/o button on the powerbook or the keyboard. Cause the pro keybeard doesn't have a power button. From what i can gather, you are saying to push the power button and THEN close the lid on the powerbook. Hmmmmm. yeah?

sorry to sound so daft, but i would really like to get this working.

Right, try the power button on the PB and then close the lid immediately. Hope this works...

It does work. You have to shut the lid relatively quickly though.

Also, for those of you wondering, the heat buildup running lid closed is minimal...I've run mine for a few days that way and it was absolutely fine.

That's awesome, thatnks guys. Cranking away now on the monitor. Seems the lcd lights up for about 30 seconds, or until the os screen pops up, then the light on the apple turns off and you are totally running from the monitor.

That's ace, been trying to get this working for ages. Legends.

woo hoo, (i feel like i am more excited than i should be)

Are you using 10.1.2 or 10.1.3? This feature doesn't seem to work for me in 10.1.3, but it worked fine in prior releases.
