Hey man, is it a bad thing to go through my applications folder and drag the things that I do not, or plan on using to the trash examples Chess, address book (have entourage) iCal,Ichat,Mail, IE, Text Edit. Or would this make my system unstable?

Just leave them there.

Future system updates can go looking for them and get confused, among other things leaving behind "half an application" where it installs the updated parts but the rest of the application is missing.

It's a lot of effort to get those files back if you decide that you do want them later, so play it safe and leave them be.

No, there shouldn't be any problems though I'd leave the /System stuff alone just in case you want them later on. But if you trash Address Book, iCal, iChat, Mail and TextEdit, etc., why use OSX in the first place?

Removing language files etc make sense if you really need the extra space.

I wouldn't recommend removing the applications you listed for the reason that you may find later on that they are better apps than the ones you currently use. The apps you listed constitute 100 mb of space. I certainly wouldn't delete TextEdit. Even IE can have its uses.

A better solution would be to install a larger HD. Depending on what system you have this can be easy or hard. My G4 Sawtooth now has 2 drives: 60 and 120 GB. It originally came with 10!

Good luck
