The funny thing is, the mods at Woot are really complete Nazis in he first 30 mins of a new item posted, and then they often completely slack off. It's really weird. I guess they just grow tired moderating after a while.

The mods there don't handle conflict of interest well. They quell negative posts because it might scare off potential buyers. It's pretty obvious, and pretty sad.

That said, Woot is good for the deals, not for the community. The only time I participate in the forums is during Woot Offs. The senseless crap posted there makes the time go by faster.

What part of hacking computer hardware translates into someone not having a life?

I mean, seriously. Since I started modding my clamshell, I've become increasingly interested in learning more about the components that go into a computer (not just run-of-the-mill upgrades like adding RAM and a new CPU and PCI cards and whatnot). It's been a damn interesting (albeit sort of expensive) hobby to get into.

It's better than bitching and moaning about how Woot gypped me out of a broken Roomba and a camera bag.

I'm sorry. I'm not jumping up and down with giddiness about what happened, but I'm not bitching and moaning about it either. A single statement, e.g. "I had one and then it disappeared" isn't bitching. It's an observation.

The posts on the woot forums about people claiming they'll never buy from woot again because of this, or that woot obviously doesn't know what they're doing, or that an online petition is going to fix the problem...that's bitching and moaning.
